Idéale Saddles: Going Back in Time With Rare Company Photos

This feature article provides an unprecedented visual window into the industrial soul of the Idéale brand, presenting rare archival photographs of the F. Tron & Cie and Tron & Berthet facilities and the generations of artisans who defined them. These images trace the company’s journey from its hydraulic roots at the former Pont-Saint-Pierre wool mill to the height of its mid-century power, capturing candid scenes from the 1935 mounting atelier, the specialized leather and metal presses, and the inauguration of the worker canteen in the 1950s. From the grand exhibits of the 1929 Paris Salon du Cycle to the picturesque setting in which much of the historical Idéale story took place, this collection serves as a powerful testament to the people and places that crafted history’s most emblematic brand of French bicycle saddle.

Special thanks to Vincent Toubeau for sharing these wonderful photographs with Ebykr.
