VENTE EXCLUSIVE AUX CONSTRUCTEURS ET GROSSISTES
[An unruled advertisement in black and white. At the upper left the words “Un JOUR” are reversed out white on a solid black panel cut as a leaning quadrilateral, “Un” in a brush script and “JOUR” in heavy sans-serif capitals. Below it four lines of bold sans-serif capitals, spaced out, open with the script word “Vous”; the script word “avec” follows under them. At the upper right a line engraving in heavy brush style shows a young man and a young woman riding side by side toward the reader on roadsters with full mudguards, both in short sleeves, the man leading on the left, drawn with solid blacks and a cast shadow under the wheels. The lower half carries a long flat ellipse drawn as a tapering line that loops round three lines of type, “LES INIMITABLES CHAINES ET PÉDALES”, in light and heavy sans-serif capitals, with a solid dot where the ellipse crosses itself. A shield badge bearing the letter U sits at the left end of the loop. The marque “UNION” fills the foot in very large heavy sans-serif letters, capital U and N with lower-case forms between. A black bar across the bottom carries the agent’s name, address and telephone reversed out in white; two lines of bold sans-serif capitals, giving the Salon hall and stand and the terms of sale, close the panel. No second color is used, no signature or agency mark appears, and no text from the reverse of the leaf shows through.]
[This advertisement shares page 142 of L’Officiel du cycle with advertisements for Flex, Reiduor and Paturaud, each held here as its own record.]
