BOUCHONS DE GUIDONS – SANDOW ETC..
[A landscape panel inside a thin black rule, its upper part a solid black field with the lettering and the drawings reversed out in white and its foot a strip of open paper. Three products are drawn as line engravings, each modeled in fine engraved rule lines and set on the black: at the left a dynamo cap, a deeply ribbed cylinder seen from above and the side with the firm’s two letters in a rounded monogram on its flat top, a shaded cylinder of rubber running away below it and a many-pointed white star burst laid behind the whole group; at the top center a brake block seen from above and the left, its long rubber face cut in a row of slanted wave-shaped slots and set on a stepped shoe, lying on a white lozenge; at the right a handlebar plug seen from above and the side, its head knurled and its skirt ribbed, with a short threaded shank below and the words “SPÉCIALITÉS”, “J.B.” and “DÉPOSÉ” lettered in a ring around its top face. The center of the field carries the selling matter in four steps: one line of white brush script with a stroke under it, two lines of bold white capitals, the two letters of the brand very large, and a last word in a heavy white script. The same two letters are repeated very large in white at the lower left and at the lower right of the field. The foot strip holds two lines of black capitals on the paper, the upper line large and bold, the lower one letter-spaced and lighter. No second color is used and no signature or agency mark appears. Type from the reverse of the leaf shows through across the top of the panel and in patches through the black field.]
[This advertisement shares page 178 of L’Officiel du cycle with an advertisement for Vélodécor, held here as its own record, and others for the Diamant toy motorcycle, C.P.D.M. engine reconditioning, Desreumaux stove enameling, the Gallet saddle for cyclomoteurs and Dupont’s motorized invalid tricycle.]
