[A full-height ruled advertisement in black and white. Three hand-lettered script lines at the upper right (“Pour le tourisme… Pour le sport… Pour la course…”) lead to the words LES FREINS “ROTA” in giant heavy condensed capitals. Two finely hatched halftone drawings show brakes on fork crowns: at the upper left a caliper brake with a curved arch, a spring and a cable-stop barrel above, brake shoes at the lower ends and the lettering “ROTA” and “INOX” along its arms; at the lower right a cantilever brake whose two arms carry shoes and are joined by a straddle cable running up to a hanger, again lettered “ROTA” and “INOX”. At the left, lines of bold italic type set out the claims for the metal, and above the firm’s name an oval badge holds the interlaced letters R, O, T and A in cream on a dark ground. The maker’s name and address in spaced capitals close the panel at the foot. No artist’s signature or monogram is visible.]

[This advertisement shares its unnumbered page of L’Officiel du cycle with advertisements for Gallet, Liberty, Cholain, Magnéto France and Lambert et Cagnon, each held here as its own record.]
