THE RALEIGH STORY

The Raleigh story began 88 years ago in the late 1880’s when Frank Bowden, under doctor’s orders started riding a Raleigh bicycle in an effort to regain his failing health. At the end of six months he not only regained his health but had also found the enjoyment of cycling. In 1887 Bowden purchased the little cycle factory on Raleigh Street in Nottingham, England and began what is today the largest integrated bicycle manufacturing facility in the world.

In the beginning, Raleigh produced between 3 and 8 bicycles per week and had the reputation of being the finest bicycle available anywhere in Europe. Today, while Raleigh turns out more than 8 bicycles per minute, painstaking care has been taken to insure every unit reflects the tradition and heritage which have made Raleigh the Bicycle Craftsman of the World.

The complete range of Raleigh and Rampar quality lightweight bicycles shown in this catalog truly reflect Raleigh’s long standing philosophy of selling the best bicycles in the world. Starting with design, each and every model is conceived from the ground up. Frame tubing and geometry are selected to provide the proper frame configuration, no matter whether it’s a small 16″ wheel juvenile bicycle or a sophisticated 12-speed racing model to provide the ultimate cycling enjoyment.

Every component, tube and lug go through extensive testing prior to selection to insure its compatibility, performance and integrity. Rigid quality control procedures are followed through production to insure your bicycle meets the exacting specifications for which Raleigh has become famous.

When you purchase a Raleigh or Rampar bicycle you purchase the finest bicycle on the market today, backed by the most unique service program in the industry, “Raleigh/Rampar Bicycle Buyer’s Protection Policy” and supported by a world-wide network of full service Authorized Dealers.

Raleigh Craftsmanship Builds Better Bicycles
