Les FORGES du LIGNON, Boën-sur-Lignon (Loire)

[A ruled advertisement in black and white, taller than wide, inside a heavy rounded black border with a separate ruled strip of type beneath it. The headline “un Soleil qui luit…” is lettered in white script-like capitals on a black curved ribbon that arches over the top of the drawing. At the center is a large freewheel sprocket drawn in line engraving with hatched shading, its hub ring lettered “PACKSON” above and “PERFECTION” below, and long thin rays spread outward from it like a sun. At the right a black rounded panel holds the reversed words “… pour tous les CYCLISTES”, the first two lines in script and the last in decorative capitals. The lower part shows cyclists drawn in loose line work: at the left a woman waving from the saddle of a bicycle and two riders on another machine, and at the right four riders seen from behind in racing jerseys wearing the numbers 4, 10 and 22, with a lone rider in the distance. The firm’s name and place sit in a boxed line of bold roman type across the foot. Signature: the initials “R.F” appear in small letters at the lower left of the drawing, and a tiny scrawled mark sits beside the rear wheel at the far left. No telephone line is printed.]

[This advertisement shares page 23 of L’Officiel du cycle with an advertisement for Hutchinson, held here as its own record.]
