[A ruled advertisement in black and white within a double frame. “CYCLES” and “METALLOPLAN”, the name between quotation marks, run across the head in large condensed sans-serif capitals. At the left a framed panel holds a fine line engraving of a hub with one end cut away to show two rows of balls in its bearing, a threaded shoulder at the other end and an oil nipple under the barrel, with the bearing parts drawn apart below it: a threaded cup and the axle carrying its two rings of balls. The caption “Coupe de nos Roulements R. A. R.” is set beneath in roman. At the right the claims are centered: the founding date of 1901 in light sans-serif, the creator of the adjustable annular bearings in heavy condensed sans-serif, “UNIVERSELLEMENT CONNUS” in light capitals, and after a short dash the bicycle range in heavy slab-serif. A boxed line in bold condensed sans-serif announces reflectors for every client, and the firm’s name and Saint-Étienne address close the panel. No signature or agency mark appears. Faint text from the reverse of the leaf shows through the background.]
[This advertisement shares its unnumbered page of L’Officiel du cycle with advertisements for Vélodécor, La Perle, Mistral, Chazal-Rouchouse, CLB and Bourguignon, each held here as its own record, and others for the F.L. lining tool, Goetz pistons and C.P.D.M. connecting-rod reconditioning.]
