M. AUGUSTE BOURDEL N’EST PLUS

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The magazine reports the death of M. Auguste BOURDEL, a well-liked figure of the cycle industry, who died on 20 June of a sudden illness at the age of 63. A keen sportsman and a cycle racer with a fine record, he had been a champion in his youth in the colors of the Pédale Clermontoise and had won many races, among them a Paris-Bourganeuf, with a reputation that reached well beyond the Auvergne. After giving up racing he built up an important business at Clermont-Ferrand, and the Mafac specialties he created are described as known throughout the world. Still devoted to the bicycle, he founded many events, above all for cyclotourism, notably the grimpée cyclotouristique du Puy-de-Dôme and the Poly d’Auvergne. The note says his loss will be keenly felt in cycling circles and in the industrial and commercial world, where he enjoyed general trust and esteem, and it offers the magazine’s condolences to Mme BOURDEL, to the doctor and Mme MAZEN, to their family and to the management and staff of the Établissements Mafac.]

[A halftone photograph of Auguste Bourdel, head and shoulders, smiling, with glasses and a small mustache, in a dark suit, white shirt and tie. The notice is set in a heavy black-ruled frame.]
