SALON DU CYCLE — Stand N° 279

[A full-width ruled advertisement in black and white, set in a single outer frame with a heavy bar across the top at either side of the word “SPÉCIALITÉS” in spaced shaded capitals. The name “GUTTACOLL” spans the width in very large light-weight roman capitals. Below it a number of separate small panels are arranged in a loose cascade. At the upper left a black-and-white panel shows a cartoon figure in a cap and waistcoat, drawn in black line and solid shapes, holding up a coil of rubber tube in one hand and a large tube of glue marked “GUTTACOLL” in the other, with lettering at the left and the brand name below in heavy capitals. At the upper right four lines of bold italic text give the firm’s claims. In the middle a black panel with an outlined banner carries the lettering for the Olux handlebar cover, and a lighter box under it shows a line drawing of a drop handlebar with a dark covering wrapped round it, with three slanted labels reading elegant, practical and economical. At the lower right a dark panel shows a drawing of a rim with a brake shoe against it and a second drawing of a block with horizontal ridges marked “GUTTACOLL”, with slanted headline lettering above. At the left, the handlebar-cover slogan is set in spaced capitals between thin rules and the brake-shoe line is set in light italic and spaced capitals. Near the foot, two columns separated by a vertical rule name the tape at the left and the braided covers at the right, over a line in bold italic and a closing line between rules. A double rule closes the foot above the show line and stand number in light spaced capitals. No artist signature is visible and no text from the reverse of the leaf shows through.]

[This advertisement shares page 200 of L’Officiel du cycle with an advertisement for Brampton, held here as its own record, and one for J.D.F. Mistral pumps for motor machines.]
