[A ruled advertisement in black and white, framed by a single rule. The upper part holds a line-drawn picture of a statue at the left: a standing figure in plate armor with a chain-mail skirt, shoulder guards and boots, one arm hanging with the index finger pointing down and the other hand resting on a long upright sword, the face turned toward the viewer under a bowl haircut. It stands on a stepped stone plinth whose upper block is lettered “BAYARD” and whose face carries the motto in small hand-style capitals. At the right the product words are stacked in large, slanted, brush-written capitals of uneven size, with the small word “pour” and the word “et” written lighter, and a sweeping brush stroke trails off below the last line. A small vertical credit line, “PUB. S.O.S.P.”, runs up the right margin. A double rule divides the picture from the lower panel, where the company’s title is set in italic and then in large spaced roman capitals joined by a double-stroke hyphen, with the street, factory and Salon hall lines below in bold and lightface sans-serif. The agency mark S.O.S.P. is present; no artist signature is visible, and no text from the reverse of the leaf shows through.]

[This advertisement shares page 210 of L’Officiel du cycle with advertisements for Vita and Rota, each held here as its own record, and one for Velox.]
