[An upright advertisement inside a thin black rule with rounded corners, printed in black on the untinted paper. The head is a heavy bold sans-serif in two lines, the first word on a solid black band that runs out to both edges and the surname below it clear of the band, with the trade word set between two short solid black bars and the town and department in bold capitals under that. A small solid black ring sits alone in the center under the heading. The two selling phrases are lettered by hand in a sloping brush script, one at the upper left and one at the upper right. Two components are drawn large in the middle in fine line engraving with close hatching for the modeling: at the left a drop-bar brake lever seen from the side with its clamp band round a short length of handlebar, the cable emerging from an adjuster at the top and the long curved blade reaching down the panel, a fixing screw shown in the body; at the right an inverted lever seen from the other side, its clamp and a ribbed handlebar grip drawn in a cutaway at the top and the blade curving down and away. Each drawing is named beneath in letter-spaced sans-serif capitals over a rule. The left-hand caption continues in mixed hand lettering and bold capitals naming the rider who uses the lever, with a solid round bullet closing the right-hand caption. Across the foot a band of fine square cross-hatch runs the width of the panel, and over it a white label set on a slight slant carries the agent’s line in four lines of hand lettering, the name largest. The agency mark “Pub. S.O.S.P.” is set in very small letters on the paper at the lower right, below the rule.]
[This advertisement shares page 158 of L’Officiel du cycle with an advertisement for Eberlein, held here as its own record, and others for Méga fuel tanks and the Singer cyclomoteur.]
