HALL DU CYCLE : Stand 53

[A ruled advertisement in black and white inside a thin single-line frame, set on a diagonal. At the upper left “En côte” is written in a large slanted brush script, and “LE” and “SPIRAX” run up to the right in heavy sans serif capitals on a rising black bar, the S drawn as a looped monogram with concentric rings at its center. A line of sloping capitals beneath it reads along the same diagonal. Below the bar a black triangular field carries reversed white capitals, widely spaced and rising at an angle. A line engraving with hatched shading fills the black field: at the left a folded road map shows mountain relief, with a circular magnifier laid on it that enlarges winding roads, spot heights and the names “Table d’Orient” and “Col du”; at the right a young cyclist in dark sunglasses, a short-sleeved jersey and shorts rides toward the viewer on a drop-handlebar racing bicycle with a rolled bag on the handlebars, shown against a speed-line background. The artist’s signature sits at the lower right of the drawing among the speed lines: “Rebour”, written with a large D-shaped flourish before the R, which is the signature of Daniel Rebour. A heavy underlined line of bold sans serif capitals follows below, then the firm’s name and address in a mix of italic, spaced bold and light type, centered, and a thin rule closes the panel. A printed line “HALL DU CYCLE : Stand 53” sits below the frame.]

[This advertisement shares page 150 of L’Officiel du cycle with an advertisement for Jacquemard, held here as its own record, and one for Geno helmets.]
