Éts SOVA – THONON-LES-BAINS

[A ruled advertisement with a thin outer border. “FREINS” in heavy sans-serif capitals and “TOUS MODÈLES” in a light face run across the head. The name “SovA” stands at the center in very large black-letter capitals with swash flourishes, flanked on the left by “ACIER MATRICÉ” and on the right by “BRONZE MOULÉ” in heavy condensed capitals. Beneath it two lines in bold italic roman capitals describe the material and type of brake. A large halftone-shaded drawing at the lower left shows a center-pull caliper brake from the front, with two rubber shoes, an arched forged arm, a central bolt and nut and a cable clamp; the arch is stamped with the letters “JYP” and the number “50”. At the right a list of fittings is set in condensed capitals and in light roman and italic type, with a small striped triangle beneath it. A ruled band at the foot carries “Éts SOVA” in heavy spaced capitals and the town in light capitals. No signature or artist mark is visible.]

[This advertisement shares page 106 of L’Officiel du cycle with advertisements for Barral, Spirax and Sturmey-Archer, each held here as its own record.]
