[A full-width advertisement in black and red on a cream ground, framed by a ruled line above and below the band of type at the foot. Broad, rough-edged brush strokes of flat red cover most of the panel, with cream areas left open for the pictures. At the upper left a rectangular halftone photograph shows a bicycle front wheel from close above: a round, rimmed dial is clamped to the fork leg and linked by a thin drive band down to the hub, with the spokes fanning across the picture. The dial carries a numbered scale and a small window for the distance count. To its right, in plain light capitals set in the red, stand the three lines “COMPTEUR KILOMÉTRIQUE VÉLO”. Two long, looping outlines in black line cross each other diagonally from the middle of the panel toward the lower left, and the descriptive words run along them in bold slanted capitals, rising to the upper right. At the lower right a line drawing in black outline on a cream reserve shows a pair of handlebars with a ribbed rubber grip, the stem bolt and a round black-faced clock with white numerals and two hands, held to the bar by a metal strap. Beside the clock, “CYCLO-MONTRE” is set in light capitals and “SCOUT” in larger light capitals. Across the foot, beneath the ruled line, “MANUFACTURE d’HORLOGERIE de BETHUNE” is set in tall condensed capitals and the commercial service, address and telephone follow in a line of condensed type. No artist signature or agency mark is visible. A narrow strip of text from the neighboring column shows along the right edge.]
