[A wide ruled advertisement in black and white, set as a panel with a heavy rule along its left, right and bottom edges and a rule along its top that breaks to make room for the maker’s oval. At the top center an oval badge with a heavy black outline and a black ground holds the five stencil-style capitals S, B, A, F and M in a pale tone with hatched shadow edges that give them a raised, three-dimensional look; the fourth letter is formed as an F, a stem with two arms. Left of the oval the first part of the firm’s name stands in condensed bold capitals on two lines, and right of it the rest of the name stands on two lines, so that the line reads across the head as “Société Bourbonnaise des [oval] Applications du Fil Métallique”. Beneath the oval a bold line gives the town and the two telephone numbers. Below, at left, a line drawing in fine hatching shows a flat square box or pad of cable sleeves with a round label printed BOURBONNEX and a looped length of sleeve threaded through it, captioned GAINES. At the right a second ruled square holds a drawing of a coil of brake cable in a ring with the word METAFIL across it, a small round tag marked 15/10 at the lower left and another marked 1,60 at the lower right, captioned CABLES. In the center are three outline drawings of wire springs, a long coil spring, a flat spiral spring and a bent wire clip with two small eyelets, with the word RESSORTS between them, and below them the word RAYONS beside a long thin outline drawing of one spoke with a head at the left end and a threaded tip at the right. Along the foot a drawing of a complete brake or derailleur cable with a barrel eyelet at the left end, an adjusting barrel, a long outer sleeve and a threaded adjuster at the right end runs the width of the panel, with bold capitals beneath listing cables, derailleur and transmission and a last line, FILS ÉLECTRIQUES, set into a break in the bottom rule. The drawings carry no artist’s signature. The bottom of that last line is shaved by the lower edge of the crop, though the letters read.]
