METAFIL

[A ruled advertisement in black and white inside a thin double-line border, drawn and lettered by hand in an angular, stencil-like style. Across the head the firm’s name arcs over the top of a large black oval in a curved line of thin capitals, ending in “FIL METALLIQUE” on a straight line at the right, and a thin rule steps down from each end of that line to frame the two columns below. The oval holds the letters SBAFM in tall reversed capitals with a shaded, three-dimensional edge. At the left a column headed “GAINES” in bold capitals between short dashes lists four types in slanted script, with a large circle below it, stippled with fine dots, that holds the word “BOURBONNEX” in condensed capitals. At the right a column headed “CABLES” in the same manner lists four uses in slanted script, with a second stippled circle below it that holds the word “METAFIL” in bold capitals. In the center three heavy stencil-style words, “TRANSMISSIONS”, “RESSORTS” and “RAYONS”, are stacked above two short rules and the town and telephone numbers in smaller capitals and script. There are no photographs or machine drawings. A tiny hand-lettered mark that reads JV, with a dot, sits in the lower right corner inside the border. No agency name is visible, and no text from the reverse of the leaf shows through.]

[This advertisement shares page 190 of L’Officiel du cycle with an advertisement for Bauriat, held here as its own record, and one for Novi spare parts.]
