IMP. PAUL DUVAL. – ELBEUF 92622

[The cover of a Tron & Berthet spare-parts tariff, printed in red and black on cream inside a
double rule, with a fine comb of red and black lines running down the left margin and across the
foot in the Art Deco manner. It is a plain, handsome piece of trade printing with no illustration
at all.

Its value is the list of four names stacked on the front, each reversed out of or set against a
solid bar: IDEALE, ELAEDY, NORTEX and LION. The first three are the three grades set side by side
in the c.1936 catalog also held in this archive, where the leather runs first-choice croupon for
Idéale, first-choice for Elaedy and good quality for Nortex. LION is the fourth and does not appear
on that page, so this sheet is the record that the house carried a fourth saddle marque.

One tariff served all four, which is the point of printing them together: the ferrures were common
and the grade of leather was what separated them.

The reverse of the leaf shows through the paper, and read in mirror it is the tariff itself, a
ruled table of part numbers and prices headed for Idéale, Elaedy, Nortex and Lion. Only this side
is held.

The printer is Paul Duval of Elbeuf, job number 92622. The c.1936 catalog in this archive carries
the same printer at job number 91407, so this tariff is the later of the two. No year is printed.]

54 to each of the two rails, 55 to the crescent and 56 to the crescent bolt.]

R. C. 693 D. Les Andelys TÉLÉPHONE 11

[A second leaf of this tariff was added to the record on 2026-08-05. It was matched to this document
rather than to any other on its own evidence: it repeats this tariff’s title block exactly, the same
four marques stacked in the same order with LION at the foot, the same Tron & Berthet address, the
same registration R. C. 693 D. Les Andelys and the same telephone number 11.

The leaf is worth having for the table above it, which is the only place in this archive where the
saddle is taken apart. Each fitting is offered twice over, in duralumin and in steel — crescent,
tension shell, tension screw and chariot — with the light-alloy version listed first every time.
The rails are given only in duralumin. Reading down the ten lines it is possible to price a whole
Idéale undercarriage in either material, which is what a repairer rather than a buyer needed.

The prices are blank here as they are on the cover, with a leader of dots and nothing after it.

The cover of this tariff is held on this record at 2800 pixels. This leaf is a smaller and wider
capture that takes in the title block together with the table, so the two overlap; the block is
worth reading from the cover and the table from here.]
