PANTALONS de PARIS
This introduction has found
great favour both for its
smartness and its practical
design. These Continental
Plus-fours are cut on closer
lines and have less fall-over
than the true Plus-four. As
a result the garment is kept
clear of the chain and does
not catch the wind or wet.
Under the knee a wide elas-
ticated band takes the
place of the usual strap and
buckle. These “Pantalons”
are cut from smooth twill
materials; have three
pockets, adjustable elastic
backs, belt loops and also
brace buttons. In popular
Black, Dark Brown or Blue.

split). Leather insole (not composition) which enables a satis-
factory repair to be made when necessary. Full light heel.

TRACK SUITS
These essentially practical garments
have found so much favour amongst
the cycling fraternity not only for
wear between races on the track but
also for “riding down” to road events
and for training that, in order to
meet these specialist requirements, we
have designed a ” cyclist’s cut.”
The legs have been shaped to fit
more closely and have very long zips
at the ankles so that they keep well
clear of the chain when on the
machine. A double seat is fitted and
they have two side pockets. The top
fits more snugly than the usual ath-
letic track suit so that there is less
wind resistance.
There are two styles available:—
The ” TRAINING SUIT ” as (illus-
trated) with flat collar, full open-end
zip, and breast pocket with buttoned
flap and yoke in contrasting colour.
These suits are in Black with Russet
or Amber contrasts.
The ” OLYMPIC ” with long zip from
neck to shoulder and fancy cut yoke
in contrast. Black with Cherry or
Steel-Blue yoke.

MULTIPLE FREEWHEELS
REGINA GRAN SPORT
The Italian block which is practically a standard for any multiple gear. It is also most suitable for use with Continental Quick Release Hubs as the flush back leaves plenty of thread available on the spindle. All sprockets detachable. Superb workmanship obvious at a glance. Further improved by grinding and lapping bearing races making it the most easily running freewheel of all. Used by the leading Continental Pro’s.

GEARS (Derailleur)
CAMPAGNOLO.
GRAN SPORT GEARS.
The “KING OF GEARS.” Equalled by none; envied by all. Its patented action ensures a rapid and positive change under any conditions. The cantilever arm movement, machined from bronze, obviates the use of a rigid arm which is always liable to accidental damage. The roller bearing cage is fully supported in all positions, being locked to the body instead of ” floating ” on the end of a shaft. Moving parts liable to wear are reduced to four pins which are fitted with phosphor-bronze bushes, whilst the two pulley wheels are of exceedingly hard-wearing high tensile steel. Altogether, the precision workmanship, the materials used and the excellent finish combine to produce a gear which will give first class service for a long period.
Don’t throw away your chances by using a gear which may let you down at a critical moment—Follow the lead of first class Continental Pro’s (including Louison Bobet) and change to and with ” CAMPAG.”

RIMS—SPRINT
FIAMME. More and more of these famous Italian rims are used year by year. To attain the fastest speeds it is essential that you have a ” tight ” pair of wheels· The “Longhi” patent design (as illustrated) whereby the pull of the spokes is distributed between the inner and outer edges of the rim enables such a wheel to be built and, moreover, it will maintain these qualities. In addition to the majority of British riders a large majority of famous Continental Pro’s rely upon FIAMME. Two weights, Road (14 ozs.) and Track (12 ozs.) 47/6 pair

D’Alessandro
TUBULARS
Signor D’Alessandro is without doubt the most experienced maker of tubular tyres on the Continent. His up-to-date factory in Milan is entirely devoted to their manufacture and his increasing sales all over the World are evidence of the esteem in which his tyres are held. During 1955 his many Championship Wins in 1954 (including a World’s) have been followed up by a remarkable series of road successes. Seven Stage wins in the Tour de France; First in the Tour of Spain (what roads!) and Tour of Holland, including the Team success.
I can therefore recommend these tyres with complete confidence and wish all D’Alessandro riders another successful season.
The range for 1956 is as follows:
IMPERFORABILE. Recognised everywhere as being ” THE JOB.” This fine tyre has had such an increased world wide demand that Signor D’Alessandro has found it possible to reduce his prices in spite of increases in cost and this reduction has been gladly passed on to you. At the 1956 price there is no doubt that this tyre is a ” BON MARCHE.” Weight 9¾ ozs. Elastic raw rubber strip between a very hard rubber tread and the light ” Sea Island ” cotton pocket, is the secret of its durability and of its amazing resistance to punctures. Usually with file pattern but can be supplied with matt tread … 72/6
Or with SILK Fabric … 85/6
PRIMO. D’Alessandro’s No. 1 Tubular. Handmade throughout. Narrow matt tread, light fabric and cotton base-tape. With its weight of 6¾ ozs., this type is eminently suitable for pursuits and fast short distance road events. I visualise a great future for this new tubular and my enthusiasm was shared by all who saw the tyre at Earls Court … 59/6
Or with SILK Fabric … 74/6
GIRO D’ITALIA. A fine road tyre for hard wear. Not quite so ” pricey ” as the Imperforabile it will never-the-less give many miles of speedy racing. Narrow black file pattern tread with latex sides. Weight 10½ ozs. … 59/6
[Folio 34.]
[A script logo reading D’Alessandro with a shadow effect at the top, and a line drawing of a tubular tire with a section cut away to show its inner construction.]
[Right-hand page.]
CRITERIUM. This tyre is becoming increasingly popular on all British hard tracks and also as a fast short distance road tyre. New finish smooth black tread. Light fabric. Weight 8¼ ozs. 49/11
IMPERIAL. A reliable light road tyre for all-round work. Narrow black tread with non-slip design. Latex sides. Weight 12½ ozs. … 43/11
LEONE. Still the tyre most in demand in the D’Alessandro range, this is a strong and reliable tubular. Defintely the most popular tyre for bunched racing. Narrow file pattern tread with translucent sides. Rubber base tape. Weight 13¼ ozs. 39/11
BALILLA. The only tyre in this price range which maintains the livliness expected from a tubular. Tough black file-pattern tread. Green protective covering to walls. Weight only 14 ozs. 33/11
WORTHY. (as illustrated.) Made specially by Signor D’Alessandro to my specification to fill a gap in the British Market. Large section with prominent file pattern tread extending well down the sides. Walls are well protected with latex dressing. This tyre is ideal for everyday riding and training and the deep non-slip tread eminently suitable for grass track work. Record-breaking tandem riders have proved that this tyre will corner at any speed. Weight 16 oz. … 39/11
