PANTALONS de PARIS. The latest introduction from Paris where this most practical gar-
ment has found great favour. These Continental Plus-fours are cut on closer lines and have less fall-over than the true Plus-four. As a result the garment is kept clear of the chain and does not catch the wind or wet. Under the knee a wide elasticated band takes the place of the usual strap and buckle. These ” Pan-
talons ” are cut from smooth twill materials; have three pockets, adjustable elastic backs, belt loops and also brace buttons. In popular Black, Dark Brown or Blue.

Attractive design, sewn white with white trimmings and Continental Triangular eyelets, good sole and light heel. N.B. These are only stocked from size 5 … … 42/6
GRAN SPORT. A new style in the ” Worthy ” range; suitable for racing and club-riding. The Sterling black box upper is reinforced at the ball of the foot with four rows of stitching converging into the front strap-
ping preventing ” spreading ” and ensuring a close fit during the entire lifetime of the shoe. The soft stiffening, at the back of the heel provides a good grip whilst the small flexible stiffen-
ing at the tip of the toe takes any toe-clip pressure. Good sole carried right through to heel which is of ” V ” formation. An excellent shoe in modern All-Black finish with gilt eyelets … … … … … … … 35/9
RECORD. These shoes are such outstanding value that they have been widely copied. Com-
pare these points in a genuine Record. Black creamed lea-
ther trimmed around top and down front opening with red leather (not plastic which has a tendancy to split). GEARS (Derailleur)
CAMPAGNOLO.
GRAN SPORT GEARS.
The ” KING OF GEARS “. Equalled by none; envied by all. Its patented action ensures a rapid and positive change under any conditions. The cantilever arm movement, machined from bronze, obviates the use of a rigid arm which is always liable to accidental damage. The roller bearing cage is fully supported in all positions being locked to the body instead of ” floating ” on the end of a shaft. Moving parts liable to wear are reduced to four pins which are fitted with phosphor-bronze bushes, whilst the two pulley wheels are of exceedingly hard-wearing high tensile steel. Altogether, the precision workmanship, the materials used and the excellent finish combine to produce a gear which will give first class service for a long period.
Practically a ” must ” for Continental Pros. Look at this list of important ” Tours ” won last season on ” Campag “. Tour of Europe—Volpi (Italian), Tour of Italy—Clerici (Swiss), Tour of Switzerland—Fornara (Italian), Tour of Holland—Van Est (Dutch), Tour of Catalonia—Serina (Spanish), Tour of Croatia and Slovenia—Petrovic (Yugo-Slav), in addition, other prominent users include Coppi, Koblet and Derycke.
Don’t throw away your chances by using a gear which may let you down at a critical moment—Change to and with ” CAMPAG “.

TUBULARS
D’Alessandro
Signor D’Alessandro is without doubt the most experienced maker of tubular tyres on the Continent. His up-to-date factory in Milan is entirely devoted to their manufacture and his increasing sales all over the World are evidence of the esteem in which his tyres are held.
These tyres have been imported into Great Britain since 1937 and they are now a prime favourite amongst British Racing Men who know that you can rely upon D’Alessandro. Very many successes have been gained upon these tyres during 1954 including World, Empire and British Championship titles.
I can therefore recommend these tyres with complete confidence and wish all D’Alessandro riders another successful season.
The range for 1955 is as follows:
IMPERFORABILE. Cheapest in the long run—A pair of these tyres will see the majority of riders through a complete season of racing including the odd ” 12 ” or ” 24 “. Exceedingly elastic raw rubber band between the tread and the base effectively prevents flints, thorns, etc., penetrating. Cunningly woven from Sea Island Cotton fabric with a light pure rubber inner tube this tyre can be relied upon. Weight 9 3/4 ozs. Usually with file pattern tread but can be supplied with matt tread … 75/6
Or with SILK fabric … 89/6
LIGHT PATH. A tyre for the expert whether Track or Short-distance man. Recognised as the tyre with the longest life at the weight of only 7 ozs. Translucent with narrow smooth red band. National Championships have repeatedly been won on these tyres … 62/6
Or with SILK fabric … 74/6
[Folio 33.]

— Page 36 —
GIRO D’ITALIA. A fine road tyre for hard wear. Not quite so ” pricey ” as the Imperforabile it will never the less give many miles of speedy racing. Narrow black file pattern tread with latex sides. Weight 10 1/2 ozs. … 57/6
CRITERIUM. This tyre is very popular on all British hard tracks and also as a fast short distance road tyre. Smooth black tread. Light fabric. Weight 8 1/4 ozs. … 48/6
IMPERIAL. A reliable light road tyre for all-round work. Narrow black tread with non-slip design. Latex sides. Weight 12 1/2 ozs. 42/6
LEONE. Still the tyre most in demand in the D’Alessandro range, this is a strong and reliable tubular. Definitely the most popular tyre for circuit racing. Narrow file pattern tread with translucent sides. Rubber base tape. Weight 13 1/4 ozs. … 39/6
BALILLA. Improved by fitting a tough black file-pattern tread. The green motif has been retained by a green protective covering on the walls. Weight 14 ozs. Really wonderful value. This is no ” hose-pipe ” tyre but one on which speedy rides can be accomplished. 31/11
” WORTHY “. (As illustrated). Made specially by Signor D’Alessandro, to my specification, for the British market. Oversize section with prominent file pattern tread extending well down the sides. Walls are well protected with latex dressing. This tyre has been used with every satisfaction for all everyday riding and training. With its wide non-slip tread it also fills a long-felt want for a reliable grass tyre, whilst tandem riders pronounce it ” just the job “. Weight 16 ozs. … 39/6

WHEELS
Now there are wheels and wheels—Holdsworth’s are the last word. All these wheels are the result of careful attention to detail.
They are built in Holdsworth’s workshops, by experienced mechanics, with only one end in view, and that is—a perfect wheel.
Ask the man who rides them, and while they may have equals, as far as workmanship, materials and general finish are concerned, Holdsworth wheels can have NO superiors.
