EMBROCATION
ELLIMAN ATHLETIC RUB contains the ingredients
necessary for stimulating the flow of blood through
congested tissues and relieving painful conditions of
the muscles, and an extra smooth oil which permits
continuous rubbing and massage without friction or
inflammation of the skin. It is recommended for use
both before and after racing or severe road work,
as it not only keeps muscles supple for action, but
also soothes away the effects of violent exertion. It
is compounded from the finest ingredients.

The Allez! bottle is in a class of its own.

and all corners are rounded. The
interior has been treated so as to
eliminate any possibility of harm-
ful effect on the fluid carried. An
aluminium capped cork completes
a first-class job. Weight only 4 ozs.

TUBULARS
D’ALESSANDRO. Introduced by HOLDSWORTH, these fine Italian Tubulars have certainly made a good name for themselves. Increased demand has enabled me to make the following extended range available in 1951 (supplied in 27″ only):—
IMPERFORABILE. The ” Unpuncturable ” Tubular. Between the narrow file-pattern tread and the base is an exceedingly elastic raw rubber band, which effectively prevents flints, thorns, etc., penetrating. Can be used with confidence in all road events in this country. Cunningly woven Sea Island cotton fabric. Light pure-rubber inner tube. Weight 9 oz. … 78/6
A PERSONAL NOTE.—I’m sorry, boys, for the advance in price, but it just couldn’t be helped. I thought of stopping bringing in any more, but just then I had the following note from a well-known rider: ” I’ve used a 9-oz. d’Alessandro in two 12’s, about four 100’s, four 50’s and three 25’s and it’s lovely yet (on rear wheel in wet races); it’s the best I’ve had and I’ve told the boys of it.”
TOUR DE FRANCE. Another fine tubular. Black narrow file-pattern tread. Latex covered sides. Weight 10 oz. … 61/-
LIGHT PATH. Here is a tubular which will, I am sure, become very popular during 1951. In addition to being suitable for all tracks it will undoubtedly be used in short-distance road events. Translucent with narrow red smooth band. Weight 7½ oz. … 58/8
COTE d’AZUR. A new introduction with attractive blue file-pattern tread. Latex protected sides. Suitable for long distance road events and rough Mass Start circuits. Weight 11 3/4 oz. … 48/6
LEONE. A strong and reliable tubular. Narrow file-pattern tread with translucent sides. Rubber base-tape. Weight 12 3/4 oz. … 37/6
Thousands of Leones were used during 1950 and were praised by all for the wonderful value.
N.B.—To keep your d’Alessandro Tubulars securely on rims, preventing rolling or chafing, use d’ALESSANDRO ” MASTICE.” See page 22. AND be sure that the base-tape is central.

WHEELS
Now there are wheels and Wheels—Holdsworth’s are the last word. All these wheels are the result of careful attention to detail. Not built on ” Piece Work ” rates, or in spare time.
They are built in Holdsworth’s workshops, by experienced mechanics, with only one end in view, and that is—a perfect wheel.
Ask the man who rides them, and while they may have equals, as far as workmanship, materials and general finish are concerned, Holdsworth wheels can have NO superiors. Just try a pair.
BUILD UP the price of the wheels you require by taking the price of the hubs and rims and adding 24/- for double-butted spokes and building. Example:—
Bayliss-Wiley 19 and 20 hubs … 53/8
San Giorgio rims 27″ … 28/-
Double-butted spokes and building … 24/-
Total Cost … 105/8
For Sprint rims add 3/6 to cost of spokes and building CARRIAGE on a pair of wheels to anywhere in U.K. 2/6.

NOTES RE ENAMELLING
As a lustre finish shows up all the imperfections in the metal of a frame, you are strongly advised to specify an enamel finish to frames which are rust-pitted or to cheap grade frames, as it tends to ” cover up ” better.
Other makers’ transfers will be fitted to frames during renovation if requested, where these are obtainable, and they will be charged at net cost. The majority of the makers will supply transfers, exceptions being Hetchins and Hercules.
NOTES WHEN SENDING FRAMES
You need not strip off the old enamel. All accessories should be removed, and all interiors if possible. (We will remove interiors you cannot manage.)
Pad and pack adequately for transit. Send in a crate if possible, otherwise fit pieces of wood or wheel spindles with locknuts between front and rear fork ends to avoid squashing.
Forward by road carrier or rail. Send by ” Company’s risk, in case of a claim for damages. If rail is used, we recommend the passenger train service to avoid unnecessary delay.
Despatch to our works at the following address:—
Holdsworth’s Workshops,
138/140 Beckenham Road, Beckenham, Kent.
Include your name and address with frame and advise despatch by post.
Frames and forks will be returned to you in approximately three weeks, per passenger train or carrier at company’s risk. A charge of 3/- will be made to any address in Great Britain or Northern Ireland. Frames will be sent well protected or in a crate if possible.
(Crates should be returned immediately per the same transport or a charge of £1 0s. 0d. will be made.)
In the event of any damage being sustained in transit, you should sign ” Received damaged,” notify the carriers or your Railway Station WITHIN THREE DAYS and get them to inspect.
