Telephone—SYDENHAM 5187.
EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING SENT POST FREE.
C. O. D.
The Cash on Delivery Scheme is splendid for last-minute delivery—perhaps you have delayed ordering something you want immediately. All you need do is to send us a note of your requirements (a postcard will do)—no bother with cheques or Postal Orders, no delay in registering letters, you simply pay the Postman at the door. We pay postage and all C.O.D. charges on all orders of £1 or more.
THE BEST WAY TO SEND MONEY is by Postal Order or Money Order. If Postal Orders are crossed with two parallel lines, and marked ” and Co.,” and the Counterfoil kept, this is an absolute safe method, as the Order can only be Cashed through a Bank—in this case it is quite unnecessary to register the letter. If Treasury Notes or Coin are sent, the letter MUST, for safety, be registered.

PLUS-SIXES
and PLUS-FOURS.
All these garments have one hip (buttoned flap) and two side pockets. They are fitted with both belt loops and brace buttons. Ample double-seat is placed so that it takes all saddle wear, and you know there is also a spare patch supplied which is all turned and hemmed ready to be sewn on directly the original shows signs of wear.
Plus-sixes are really plus-sixes. Cloth is not skimped, so that there are good full turn-overs. At the same time, all unnecessary cloth at knee-band is cut away, and the cloth mitred to fit. This prevents bunching and unnecessary warmth. Pleated fronts which ensure a good ” fall ” and ” set ” and wide knee-bands for turn-over topped stockings.
Plus-fours have not quite such an ample turn-over as the plus-sixes described above.—Same price as Plus-sixes.

COMFORT SUITS.
There is a difference between an ordinary Plus-four Suit and a suit made for Cycling. One point is that the ordinary tailor only makes for smartness on foot, and cannot know the little adjustments which are so necessary if the jacket is not going to ” pull ” when you are in the saddle, when, as a result, the sleeves will ride up most uncomfortably.
Holdsworth has been specialising in Cycling Suits—Comfort Suits—for the past 15 years, so you can be sure you’ll receive a real Cycling Suit when you order a ” Comfort Suit.”
The Ever Popular LOUNGE STYLE with Plus-sixes or Plus-fours.
Fully lined jacket with inside pocket, with a button flap to prevent your pocket-book from falling out. Cuffs can be turned up. Three outside pockets.

STOCK SUIT PRICES.
Stock Suits are Not Factory-made, but cut by a tailor’s cutter and sewn by tailors. There is no difference in the quality and finish of these suits compared with the corresponding suits made to measure.
If, therefore, you are of average build you can save time and money by having a stock sized suit. The range is : Chests, 34, 36, 38, 40 and 42 in. ; Waists, 30, 32, 34, 36, and 38 in.

ROAD
RACING
WEAR.
For very many years past Holdsworth’s Road Racing Wear has led the field.
That this is no idle boast can be judged from the fact that Frank Southall (both as an amateur and as a professional) has always insisted upon ” Holdsworth.” The Australians on both their visits followed his example. Jack Rossiter was also a Holdsworth ” fan.”
For RACING JACKETS from 4/6 see page 3.

TIGHTS.
The secret of Holdsworth’s Tights is that they are made by a firm of theatrical tight makers.
The cut has been altered to meet the special requirements of cycle racing, thus the backs are cut with plenty of length to prevent gaping when ” down to it.”
Legs are well shaped and feet made sock fashion to eliminate unnecessary seams. Double-seats placed so that they take all saddle-wear. When ordering, please quote inside leg length and state whether slightly or sturdily built.

New GOLDSKIN “IMPREGNABLE”
FABRIC.
This is an exclusive fabric which is
definitely stronger than any other Oilskin.
Here is the proof :—
Certificate issued by the City of Bradford
Conditioning House, and this is an extract
from their certificate :—
Strength Elongation
” A ” … 196½ lbs. —.7 in.
” B ” … 166½ lbs. —.6 in.
” C ” … 136½ lbs. —.6 in.
” A ” was New Impregnable Fabric.
” B ” was previous Goldskin.
” C ” was another very well-known
make of oilskin cape.
This definitely proves that the New Impregnable Goldskin is
20 per cent. stronger than the old Goldskin and over 50 per cent.
stronger than the fabric from which one of the best known and
expensive oilskin capes is made.

CONCEALED ZIP CAPE.
This is without doubt the ideal fastening for a cape because the Zip works from the inside, and it is no longer necessary to put the arms outside to do it up. Also it is so easily adjusted when riding. If you’re too warm, zip the opening down just as far as you like. If it comes on to rain heavily again, zip it up again and no need to get off the cycle or wave the arms about outside the cape. And the Zip—all British—is covered by two neat little flaps of Goldskin, making sure all is weatherproof.
All IMPREGNABLE GOLD-
SKIN CAPES are made as follows
COLOUR.—Khaki or Black.
CUT.—Length at front, 42 in. Length at back, 39 in. Full at skirt, width around hem being 120 in.
These capes are cut with generous shoulder room. This is a most important point, as otherwise full advantage cannot be taken of the size.
FINISH.—Velvet-lined collar. Leather-backed buttons. Two thumb loops accurately placed for dropped bars.
Buttoned fastening capes have new pattern neck-opening, which distributes the strain upon the stitching at this vulnerable spot.
LAWRENCE HATS.
Made of Goldskin with Bluemel’s green or amber celluloid peaks (the peak is detachable and can be replaced if cracked). Goldskin flap at back to keep neck dry. Lighter than Sou’-wester. A great boon to spectacled riders, as peak keeps rain off glasses, also peak is anti-dazzle for night riding.

SOU’-WESTERS.

IMPREGNABLE GOLDSKIN LEGGINGS
Wear longer than other makes.
By the use of Goldskin Leggings, in conjunction with Cape and Sou’-wester, it is possible to keep dry in the worst of weather.
Holdsworth’s leggings are very carefully cut, being narrow at ankle to keep clear of cranks and chain, and very roomy at thighs for plus-fours.
Patent Clip Fastenings.
These are leather-backed. Under-straps of heavy quality elastic 12/6
Zip Fastenings.
These make the ideal legging so very easily put on or taken off. Covered Zips to keep out all wet and mud 16/-
N.B.—When ordering please quote your entire inside leg length and height, as the Leggings are stocked in several sizes.

WORTHY BAGS
The following range comprises Bags for all purposes and to suit all pockets, but if you have any special requirements we are at all times pleased to make bags to customer’s specifications. Delivery usually 10 to 14 days. Prices reasonable.
VORTEX FITTING.
Keeps the Contents of the Bag Spotless.
The Vortex, which is exclusive to Holdsworth’s Bags, is a rubbered mouth-like extension, which, after the bag is packed, is closed by means of a draw cord. The bag is then strapped down in the usual manner, but not a drop of rain or speck of dust can penetrate. In an old-fashioned bag, even if fitted with extended gussets, damp and dirt work round the edges of the gussets, but this is quite impossible with the Vortex.

PANNIER BAGS AND CARRIERS.
The Pannier Bag has solved the problem of transportation of camping kit. A bag on each side of the carrier rides easily and still leaves the carrier free for tent, etc.
The First Requirement is a Carrier strong enough to carry the Loaded Bags without swaying, and yet not too heavy.
Holdsworth introduced the
QUILL PANNIER
CARRIER 5/-
which you will note fulfils all these requirements. Weight, 24 oz. Platform, 16 × 5 inches.
IMPORTANT.—These Carriers are made from Drawn Tubing—beware of cheap imitations made of Seamed Tubings, which cannot have the same degree of strength and safety, and tend to ” open ” at the corners.
Made throughout in Holdsworth’s Workshops, it is exceedingly sturdy, yet only weighs about one-half of the usual stamped-out pattern. Enamelled Jet Black, with adjustable clips and bolts, which are cadmium-plated, a great improvement on the common black clip. Can also be supplied All Chrome .. .. .. .. 10/6
N.B.—Your Pannier Bags will wear much longer if used with a Quill Carrier—no sharp edges to chafe.
HOLDSWORTH’S OWN DESIGN PANNIER BAGS.
The result of practical experience, these bags have proved their worth for several seasons past. They have been used all over Great Britain and most of the Continent, and have also carried the kit of adventurous Cyclists in Wildest Africa.

— Page 41 —
THE SNAG with pannier bags has been the strapping to and off the carrier—a good 10 minutes’ job at the best of times, and when it has to be done in the dark after a muddy ride . . . ! NOW this has been overcome and rendered entirely unnecessary by

TUBULAR TYRES.
TUBULARI D’ALESSANDRO.
These world-famous Tubulars are now introduced to the British Market by Holdsworth.
I’ve seen many tubulars during the past thirty years, but I don’t remember seeing any so good—so well finished—so perfectly spherical—as these ALESSANDRO Tubulars.
Used by Giovanni Valetti, winner of the 1938 Giro d’Italia and Tour de Suisse, the second and third in the Giro d’Italia. Also such famous riders as Binda, Guerra, Antonin Mange, Girandengo, it is evident that they are right ” on top.”
British riders will, I know, at once appreciate the sterling qualities of these tyres—some well-known Amateurs have already used them with every satisfaction.
FOR THE ROAD.
Imperforabile. The Unpuncturable Tubular. Between the narrow file-pattern tread and the base is an exceedingly elastic raw rubber band, which effectively prevents flints, thorns, etc., penetrating. For this reason, although in 27″ it only weighs 9¾ oz., this tyre can be used with confidence in all road events in this country. Cunningly-woven Sea Island cotton fabric. Light pure-rubber inner tube. Supplied in 27″ or 26″ … … … … … … … … 18/11
Used in conjunction with Alessandro Supreme 10¼ oz. Maple Sprint Rims, it is invincible for speedy road work.
Giro d’Italia. First-class Tubular for all-round road work. Narrow file-pattern tread in double carbon rubber, with super-fine fabric. Rubber base tape ensures perfect grip to rim. 27″ or 26″. Weight 12¾ oz. 14/9
Ballilla. More than just a training tyre, this Tubular, with its Blue Canvas-impression tread, will prove of real service to all Road-men. Good inner tube (not lapped) with correct valve seating. Rubber base tape for easy grip to rim. 26″ or 27″ … … … … 10/6
FOR THE PATH.
Leggeri. A fine 7¾ oz. Tyre. Just right for Cement or Cinders. 27″ or 26″. Very fast, but reliable … … … … … 14/9

” CONSTRICTORS.”
Known as far back as 30 years ago, they are in continued demand. Simplicity of repair is a great feature, by which a rider is able to withdraw inner tube through loose threads in the base at any particular part of the tyre without unstitching or undoing any layer of fabric.

WHEELS.
This section will appeal with real energy to the enthusiasts. Now there are wheels and Wheels—these are the last word. All the wheels listed below are the result of careful attention to detail. Not built on ” Piece Work ” rates, or in spare time.
They are built in Holdsworth’s workshops, by experienced mechanics, with only one end in view, and that is—a perfect wheel.
Ask the man that rides them, and while they may have equals, as far as workmanship, materials and general finish are concerned, Holdsworth wheels can have NO superiors. Just try a pair.
Holdsworth Wheels all bear a special transfer—look for this on your wheels and make sure that you have a really speedy wheel.
The following prices are based upon Endrick rims, chromium-plated, 15/17 gauge spokes, and are less cogs and lock rings.
