[A wide, shallow ruled advertisement in black and white, inside a plain black rule. The firm’s name and address run across the head in one line, “Établissements” in bold condensed sans-serif and the rest, from the name to the telephone number, in a larger bold sans-serif. The rest of the panel is given to four line engravings of tools, all drawn in fine hatched line with the metal shaded so that the light runs along the shafts. At the upper left a lever-handled tool stands on end. Across the middle of the panel runs a long tool laid horizontally, a knurled barrel handle with a plain shaft at each end and, at its right, a drum head cut with a graduated scale reading in figures round the rim. At the lower left is a bench tool clamped to a round base, with an upright arm and a long operating rod lying across it; a small cursive monogram, too small to be read, is drawn on the ground below it. At the right is a bench machine with a large disc, a geared head and a chuck, bolted through a flanged foot whose face carries the maker’s plate lettered in four lines, “G. GOUVERNEUR”, “FILS AINÉ”, “PARIS” and “MODÈLE DÉPOSÉ”; the same cursive monogram is drawn beside its foot. Between the engravings, in the open middle of the panel, stand one line of letter-spaced bold sans-serif capitals about the tooling and, below it, one line of light italic about the catalog. No agency mark appears, and no type from the reverse of the leaf shows through.]

[This advertisement shares page 140 of L’Officiel du cycle with advertisements for Le Chemineau and Helyett, each held here as its own record, and one for Celliosprint enamel.]
