A large black zigzag shape, like a lightning flash, crosses a cream field from top to bottom, and the parts are drawn on it in fine white-line engraving: a rat-trap pedal, a single freewheel sprocket, a pair of cotterless-style cranks, a small hub with spoke flanges and a large chainring with a scalloped five-arm spider. The firm’s name stands at the upper right on a cream panel in heavy black sans-serif capitals, with “Père & Fils” and the Sury-le-Comtal address below. “Nos Spécialités :” is lettered in a white brush script across the black. The product notes are set in a rounded hand-lettered sans-serif in the cream spaces, divided by black dots, one pair running on a slant. “La Marque” opens the lower left corner in script and capitals over “Eclair” in a large black jagged script shaped like lightning.
