[An upright advertisement inside a thin black rule. The ground is a solid black zigzag that runs corner to corner across the panel in two broad chevrons, so the field alternates between black and the bare paper, and the parts are drawn over it. The firm’s name sits at the top right in a white parallelogram set on a slant, with the house word in small capitals above and the surname in very large heavy sans-serif capitals, the partnership line and the town in a drawn sans-serif below, the department in parentheses on its own line. Five components are drawn in fine line engraving, their lines left white where they cross the black: at the top a rat-trap pedal with a serrated cage and a threaded spindle seen in three-quarter view, under it a freewheel block seen face on with a toothed rim and a ribbed body, at the middle two cottered cranks lying crossed with their pedal eyes and chainring arms toward the viewer, at the middle right a hub axle assembly with two flanged hub shells, cones and locknuts laid out on the spindle, and filling the lower right a large chainwheel seen face on with its five-armed spider and a crank attached. The trade lines are lettered by hand, black on the paper at the left and white on the black at the right, with solid round bullets dividing them, and the heading over the right-hand group is a white brush script with a long underline. At the lower left the brand is lettered in two drawn words above a name built entirely from jagged lightning bolts, black over paper and reversed where it crosses the black ground, which reads “Eclair”. The agency mark “Pub. S.O.S.P.” is set in small white letters reading upward in the black at the right edge. No stand number appears.]

[This advertisement shares page 156 of L’Officiel du cycle with an advertisement for Simsac, held here as its own record, and others for the Terry saddles for motor machines and Increvex puncture liquid.]
