DE ROSA
A HERITAGE OF QUALITY
[A light blue road bicycle across the page on a gray ground: DE ROSA in white on the down tube and seat tube, a silver De Rosa stem, black bar tape with an Almarc label, white hoods, a black saddle, a Campagnolo drivetrain and gum-wall tubulars. THE PRIDE OF CRAFTSMEN
Every De Rosa bicycle is built as if it were for Eddy Merckx. The demand for these bicycles has increased continually as the word of their superior performance has spread. First, among the european professionals and then the general public. Today, De Rosa is recognized around the world as the ultimate racing machine. Inspite of this and because of it, Ugo De Rosa has not sacrificed his exacting standards. He built his first frame over 25 years ago and now with the official addition of his sons Danilo, Dorino, and Cristiano this family business has entered its second generation. Each De Rosa frame still goes through fourteen seperate brazing Jigs (all of Ugo De Rosa’s own design) to assure the correct angles and proper alignment. Thus, guaranteeing you the highest quality hand built frame available.

At the left, in black and white, Eddy Merckx in a Molteni jersey astride a bicycle, talking with Ugo. Below, Ugo with three younger men in work coats gathered round a frame clamped in a vise; this is the photograph credited to T. Brockett.]

For 1986, De Rosa frames feature all investment cast conjunctions, a classic flat fork crown and a new reinforced bridgeless bottom bracket shell. The front derailleur mount, fork crown, drop-outs and diammond chain stays are all finished in beautifully functional chrome. The frames are then given two coats of primer before receiving 3 generous coats of Colver® lacquer and a final clear coat.

Inset: the bridgeless bottom bracket shell of a blue frame. At the lower right, six paint chips named for the colors.]
