DE ROSA
Throughout his nearly over forty years as a frame builder, Ugo DeRosa has kept a watchful eye on the latest developments in bicycles by carefully studying the new and making comparisons against the proven. DeRosa and his sons are artisans and technicians, so new ideas are always of interest and opportunities for improvement are constantly under review. Change, however, is never introduced for frivolous reasons. The final product must, after all, meet the standards of a very select group. Riding a DeRosa bicycle is quite unlike any other. Regardless of size or material, there are certain unmistakable characteristics that make a DeRosa a DeRosa.
Endurance
With the Endurance model, DeRosa introduces a frame made from a tubeset by Italy’s new manufacturer of premium tubes for bike frames: Dedaccai. Specially drawn for DeRosa, the Endurance micro-alloy Dedaccai tube set is butted and internally reinforced by ribs in the seat tube and down tube. The chainstay features a longer “Diamante” shaped section for increased rear triangle stiffness. DeRosa has modified his traditional geometry for greater stability in long descents, and to position the rider for strength over longer rides.

TITANIO
Titanio
Until recently, steel has been the material of choice for Ugo DeRosa and his sons. They have analyzed many options over the years, but were never satisfied with their performance. That is why when DeRosa told us of his interest in Titanium several years ago, we could hardly wait to ride the results of his efforts. The waiting ended in the ’94 season. The DeRosa Titanio, like so many DeRosa’s before it, has already proven itself on the European pro circuit having been ridden extensively by the successful Gewiss/Balan team throughout the ’94 season. Constructed of 3/2.5 Titanium tubing, DeRosa chooses a bottom bracket shell and dropouts of 6/4 Titanium for extra strength. Since a bicycle’s fork plays such a crucial role in the ride and handling, DeRosa is unwilling to leave its design or construction to others. The new Titanio is supplied with a special unicrown fork of Columbus Genius. The fork is specifically designed to work with the dynamics of the frame to provide the proper handling and balance.

GIRO
Giro
In the 1995 season, the Giro introduced the oversized Neuron tube set from Columbus. Neuron features variable wall thicknesses arranged to reinforce the frame at critical points. This reinforcement is entirely internal and is produced by means of a special method for drawing the tubes. Joined in DeRosa’s proprietary geometry using his lightweight lug set and reinforced bottom bracket shell, Giro delivers the famous DeRosa ride and handling — performance proven in the race from which this bicycle takes its name.

PRIMATO EL/OS
SAN REMO
NEO PRO
DE ROSA
Primato EL/OS
The trouble with many of today’s light frames is that they give up the solid ride qualities of the best professional bicycles. DeRosa will not have it that way, so he specifies his own version of Columbus’s EL oversize tube set. Finding that this alone would not meet his standards, he developed a lug set that is significantly lighter than standard conjunctions. Chainstays are given his special Diamante shape for extra rear triangle stability. The resulting frame is light in weight, yet it retains the rock-steady handling so characteristic of DeRosa bikes. The geometry provides the saddle setback many riders prefer. Full braze-ons are provided. Chrome head lugs, dropouts and fork tips.
Sizes: 50-62 cm center to center
Colors: Ferrari Red
Frame/fork: $1400.00
San Remo
The introduction of a new DeRosa model is always cause for celebration, but the new San Remo is especially exciting. Now DeRosa quality and performance comes to a new class of bicycles. The San Remo is hand built from Columbus Brain oversize tubing. DeRosa’s famous geometry and special lightweight conjunctions insure that the San Remo rides the way a DeRosa should. Astute riders will recognize the extraordinary opportunity
this new model represents — the opportunity to own a DeRosa for the price of a bicycle.
Sizes: 50-64 cm center to center
Color: Ugo-Blue with yellow decals
Frame/fork: $935.00
Neo-Pro
For those who contend that no steel frame is as light and responsive as its titanium or non-ferrous counterpart, DeRosa offers the Neo-Pro. Here is “new” steel at its finest. Columbus Genius oversize tubes, drawn for DeRosa exclusively, are joined in DeRosa’s time-tested geometry using an ultra-light proprietary lug set and bottom bracket shell. DeRosa’s Genius unicrown fork is strong and light — in perfect harmony with the Neo Pro frame. Full braze-on fittings are supplied. Chrome dropouts and fork.

EDDY MERCKX
First as a racer, and now as a manufacturer of professional frames, Eddy Merckx has had an opportunity to analyze the performance characteristics of virtually every type of bicycle frame. Before he will put his own name on a bicycle, he must be assured that it will survive under the most grueling professional race conditions. To win, he believes that the rider must be able to rely on a bike that is strong, dependable, and comfortable for long events. These are the conditions under which Eddy Merckx bicycles have performed and emerged victorious so many times. Fashions come and go, and through them all, the proof of an Eddy Merckx can be found by reviewing the results of the most demanding races in the world. Ride with The Legend, Eddy Merckx.
Titanium AX
When Eddy Merckx decided to build a moderately priced titanium model in 1995, it came as no surprise that the result was a fine bike! But Eddy Merckx is never satisfied, and so theTitanium AX has been substantially upgraded for 1997. Of course, it still features Eddy’s proven Century Geometry. It is constructed of 3/2.5 titanium tubes with 6/4 bottom bracket shell and engraved semi-vertical type dropouts. The seat tube and down tube are tapered and single butted for increased stiffness. In addition the seat tube is ovalized at the bottom bracket shell for greater resistance to flex. The chainstays and seatstays have been increased in diameter for extra rigidity in the rear triangle.
The surprise is that all these features come at the price of many “no-frills” titanium models. Why settle? Ride with a winner — Eddy Merckx!

The new Merckx Titanium EX is specially made to Eddy’s exacting specifications. The geometry is Eddy’s proprietary design yielding the rider position preferred by the master. It features a multi-shaped 3 Al/2.5V tube set that provides resistance to stresses in the bottom bracket area. The bottom bracket shell is made from 6 Al/4V titanium. Large diameter ovalized chainstays keep the rear triangle stiff. To facilitate wheel changes in racing conditions, and adjustability, horizontal road dropouts are specified. An integral seat binder is provided along with 2 sets of bottle bosses.

PINARELLO
For over 65 years, Giovanni Pinarello has been building bicycles in the beautiful walled village of Treviso, Italy. As a rider, and as a master frame builder, Pinarello came to the forefront through his dedication to innovation. Pinarello road frames established a reputation for such novel features as specially designed lugs, bottom brackets, and plug-in dropouts, among others. Pinarello frames have been ridden to victory in nearly every major racing event in Europe and the United States, including the Giro d’Italia and the Olympic Games. In the 1995 season, Miguel Indurain again rode his Pinarello to an unprecedented 5th consecutive Tour de France victory. Recently, as Giovanni’s son, Fausto Pinarello, became more actively involved in the family business, the pace of innovation has accelerated. Nowhere is this more evident than in the overhaul of the Pinarello lineup for the 1996 season. This new line shows the promise of the new generation of Italian frame builders, a group in which Fausto Pinarello figures prominently. Included are all-new bicycles for amateur racers and first-time riders as well as the traditional selection of not-so-traditional professional frames. Try the new generation Pinarello bikes and you’ll see why great riders, like Miguel Indurain and Bjarne Riis, win on great frames—Pinarello.
