NOUVEAUTÉS CYCLES et CYCLOMOTEURS

C.L.B., 25, rue des Armuriers, SAINT ETIENNE (Loire – France)

[A wide landscape panel inside a plain black rule, printed in black on the untinted paper. At the left the firm’s monogram is drawn very large as a line engraving: a heavy black disk carrying the letters C, L and B reversed in white and run together, the C and the B overlapping so that they share a stem. A small rectangular label tilted up to the right sits across the top of the disk, outlined in a thin line with one short end blocked solid black, and the word FREIN is lettered inside it in open sans-serif capitals. The right two thirds of the panel hold four lines of text, each line a different size: a bold sans-serif line with the stand number, an italic serif line naming the show, its place and its dates, a second letter-spaced bold sans-serif line, and then the two words of the closing line in very large sloped sans-serif capitals that run the width of the panel, with the small word “et” set upright between them. A short vertical rule drops from the monogram to separate it from that largest line. The firm’s name and address close the panel on one centered line of small bold sans-serif capitals and lower case at the foot. No drawing of a brake or a machine appears, no second color is used and no signature or agency mark is present. Type from the reverse of the leaf shows faintly through the open paper at the upper right and behind the monogram.]

[This advertisement shares page 174 of L’Officiel du cycle with advertisements for Prym, Marvel and Bluemel’s, each held here as its own record, and others for P.C. plug caps, the Mochet voiturette and S.I.F. forks for cyclomoteurs.]
