CHAZAL-ROUCHOUSE – SAINT-ÉTIENNE

[A ruled advertisement in a thin single-line frame, drawn in line engraving. “GARDE-BOUE” is in spaced shaded roman capitals at the head, and three mudguards are drawn one beneath another in three-quarter view, each with a caption in bold sans-serif above or below it: the first has a toothed, beaded edge along its crown, the second a similar edge with a heavier row of studs and the third a surface covered in a pattern of rounded rectangular scales. “CARTERS” follows in large shaded roman capitals, over two chain-guard drawings, a plain English-pattern guard with oval openings round a hub ring at the left and a scale-patterned curved guard at the right. Two lines of bold sans-serif describe the range, and the firm’s name and town stand in roman capitals between two rules at the foot. No signature or agency mark is visible. Text from the reverse of the leaf shows faintly behind the drawings.]

[This advertisement shares page 30 of L’Officiel du cycle with advertisements for Sterling, Pivo and Préférence, each held here as its own record.]
