Above and below the strip, tools are drawn in line engraving with light shading against the black ground: a chain tool, a cylindrical gauge with a lever handle, a threaded fitting marked “VAR”, a puller with a wing screw, flat wrenches, a pair of pliers with a round head, a three-legged extractor with a knurled screw and a heavy box wrench. At the center right a pale starburst holds no text. In the text, “Plus de 800 sortes d’OUTILS et de CLÉS spéciaux en magasin” is set in bold spaced sans-serif type in the upper band, and “Envoi gratuit du Catalogue complet” in condensed type in the lower band. At the far right a tilted pale panel carries “VAR” in very large heavy capitals with the address and telephone lines slanting beneath it. A tiny vertical credit reading “PUB. J. BONROY” runs along the right edge, which is an agency mark, not an artist signature.]
