[An upright advertisement in black and white, framed by a heavy rule. The upper two thirds are a solid black block carrying a line engraving reversed out in white. At the left a double chainring is drawn very large, seen square on, the outer ring fully toothed with the inner ring behind it, the five arms of a spider shaded with fine parallel hatching and five chainring bolts shown round the circle. At the right a racing cyclist in a crash hat and goggles is drawn from the front quarter, crouched low on the drops of a track machine, the wheels and the shaded ground behind him rendered as a coarse cross-hatched screen. Between them the slogan runs across the block in two lines of a sloping white brush script. At the lower left the T.A. trade mark is drawn as a small toothed chainring with the letters T and A locked together as a monogram over its center. In the lower right corner of the black block, against the plain ground beside the rear wheel, sits a small solid mark about 4 mm high; at the full resolution of the photograph it does not resolve into letters, and it is not boxed like Daniel Rebour’s “DR” monogram elsewhere in this issue, so it is left unread. Below the block the four product names are set as a bulleted list, one to a line, in bold sans serif with a dash before each, the hyphens in “Guides-Gaines” and “Pignons-Moto” set as the old double-stroke form. The firm’s line follows in large letter-spaced roman with the initials “T. A.” in heavy shaded capitals, and the street address, town and telephone number run on one line under it. A rule closes off the foot, where the hall and stand number stand in bold sans serif. No second color and no agency mark appear.]
[This advertisement shares page 168 of L’Officiel du cycle with advertisements for Beaussuzet, Sido and F.L., each held here as its own record.]
