[An upright ruled advertisement in black on the cream stock, the panel closed by a heavy rule and divided across into three product bands by further rules, with a closing band at the foot. The headline is set in letter-spaced bold roman with the word Courses in inverted commas, and the brand name “IDÉALE” stands at the upper right in very large bold capitals with a shaded, slightly irregular face. Three saddles are drawn as fine line engravings. The first, at the upper left, is the No 59 seen in three-quarter view from the left rear, nose to the left, its hide top hatched and bright along the ridge, a row of rivets round the skirt, a line of lace holes along the lower edge and an oval badge pressed into the flank lettered “MADE IN FRANCE”, “IDEALE 59”, “PROFESSIONNEL” and “CROUPON DE CHOIX TRAITÉ”; its tensioning bolt and clamp show below. The second, the No 52, is drawn from below and behind to show the underside: the frame, the single-point crescent attachment, the clamp and the twin tubular spring, the leather lettered “BREVETÉ FRANCE ET ÉTRANGER” and a small badge at the rear reading “IDEALE”. The third, the No 58, is a broad-nosed saddle in three-quarter view from the left, heavily stippled, with a plate at the nose lettered “Bté S.G.D.G.” and an oval badge on the flank lettered “T IDEALE 51 B” with “PROFESSIONNEL” and “CYCLO-CROSS” round it. At the right of the lower half a small ruled box holds a close drawing of the patented nose piece seen end on, shaded with stipple, titled “Le bec spécial Bté” above and “Cyclo-Cross 51-58” below; a drawn monogram reading as the letters D and R combined inside an upright box sits at the lower right of this drawing. The specification lines are set as dashed lists in a bold roman, with the length and width of each saddle on a line under its drawing. The band above the foot carries “Ces modèles se font” in bold italic, underscored, with the two leather types ranged beside it, and the closing band gives the maker’s name in heavy sans-serif capitals with the town, department and country at the right. No second color is used, and nothing shows through from the reverse of the leaf; the right-hand edge of the sheet curves into the binding beside the panel.]
