PUB. S.O.S.P.

[A tall narrow panel printed as a solid black field with every line and drawing reversed out in white. At the head a cockerel stands in white silhouette, drawn with a plain comb, a raised tail and two straight legs, and across its body lies a white outlined cartouche shaped like a closed loop of chain, dotted along its inner edge, with the product word lettered inside it in white capitals. The brand name runs down and across the upper half in a very large white brush script with a long flourish on its first letter. To the right of the script four lines name the machines, the first small and letter-spaced and the three below it in large bold white capitals. The middle of the panel carries a drawing in white and black line: a stork flies in from the left with its wings up, its long bill and trailing legs drawn in fine line, and behind it a white cloud shape holds the silhouette of a city, a tall spire and a group of lower roofs and gables laid in close diagonal hatching so that they read as a town on the skyline. The foot gives the maker in five white lines, the first in a light script, the next three in bold capitals with the firm’s trade name in heavy capitals between inch marks, and the last two naming the city and its suburb with the department in parentheses. The agency mark “PUB. S.O.S.P.” is set in very small white capitals reading upward in the right margin of the black field. No second color is used and no other signature appears.]
