DUNLOP 64, RUE DE LISBONNE – PARIS

AU SALON : Hall du Cycle, Stand 6

[A full page advertisement inside a ruled frame, printed in black on tinted paper, built from pen-and-ink drawings with fine line shading. Across the top three figures stand in front of the headline: at the left a young woman in a neckerchief and rolled-sleeve sweater sits sideways on a scooter with a deep fairing, smiling toward the viewer; in the middle a smiling man in a light jacket and tie gestures with an open hand while standing astride a small motorized bicycle with a headlamp; at the right a boy in a striped shirt and shorts rides a bicycle with a rear rack and a lamp on the handlebar. Their wheels overlap the headline, in which “PNEUS” in heavy outlined capitals sits above “DUNLOP” in very large solid black capitals. Below, the page divides into two columns introduced by the words “Vélomoteurs” at the left and “Scooters” at the right, each in large black script. Each column stacks four cutaway drawings of tires, shaded to show the tread, the sidewall and the inside of the casing: ribbed, block-patterned, mixed and heavy-duty versions, some with a white sidewall, marked with a small triangle bearing “D5”, the word “RIBBED” or a round emblem. A short caption sits beside each tire, with its sizes centered under it in a column of figures. The captions alternate sides down the page. At the top right corner of the frame is a small circular device, a ring around four letters on a music staff, which is not legible as a name. A faint scrawl of a few letters, possibly an artist’s mark, stands beside the rear wheel of the boy’s bicycle and cannot be read. The firm’s name and its Paris address run together in bold black capitals along the foot of the frame, and a line outside the frame gives the hall and the stand. Some spotting shows to the right of the headline.]
