“Lapize”

[A tall narrow advertisement in black and white, a solid black panel with a thin outer border and no address or telephone line. Five brand names are stacked down the upper part in cream capitals, the first three in very large heavy sans-serif capitals and the last two smaller and lighter: Christophe, Lapize, Zefal, Solibloc and Afa. Below them three cycle accessories are drawn in fine line engraving with white highlights against the black. A long hand pump leans from the upper left to the lower center, lettered “ZEFAL” near its top and again along its barrel with “PROCÉDÉ SOLIBLOC” and “course” and a star. At the right a dome-shaped handlebar bell sits on its clamp, with a small round tag lettered “AFA” and “MADE IN FRANCE”. At the foot a pair of toe clips with a strap is drawn, the metal cage lettered “CHRISTOPHE” and the strap tab lettered “Lapize” within quotation marks. Faint mirrored lines of type from the reverse of the leaf show through the margin below the panel. No artist signature or monogram is visible.]

[This advertisement shares its unnumbered page of L’Officiel du cycle with an advertisement for Packson, held here as its own record, and one for the Morel handlebar switch.]
