HALL DU CYCLE : Stand 104

[A tall narrow ruled advertisement in black and white, framed by a double rule. Two line drawings of a young woman riding a bicycle fill the top and bottom of the panel. In the upper drawing she wears a striped short-sleeved top and trousers and looks back over her shoulder as she rides up a slope, on a bicycle with a luggage rack and a lamp on the handlebar. In the lower drawing she wears a patterned skirt and a sleeveless top, smiles toward the viewer and rides a similar bicycle with a rack over the rear wheel and a spring visible under the saddle. Between the drawings the text is set in heavy sans-serif capitals and bold lowercase, right-aligned: “LA SELLE SOUPLE” in medium capitals, “REYDEL” in very large heavy roman capitals, then “à suspension SANDOW” and “…si confortable” in condensed bold type. A line along the bottom edge, outside the lower rule, gives the hall and stand number in open sans-serif capitals. No signature or agency mark is visible.]

[This advertisement shares page 214 of L’Officiel du cycle with advertisements for H. Arnaud, Dupont and Stella, each held here as its own record, and others for Ferrand gloves and clothing, Marvel mascots for scooters and motorcycles and Bollée piston rings.]
