Lady’s rubber. HANDLEBAR : Special design, adjustable stem. BRAKES : Raleigh front and rear
Caliper. SADDLE : Gent’s Brooks’ B.15. Lady’s Brooks’ B.72L, best Butt Leather, finest quality,
or Terry’s finest quality Spring Seat. FINISH : Frame and fork black enamel on Spra-bonderised
rust-proof surface, mudguards white enamel. Usual bright parts Raleigh-Chrome plated.
FITTINGS : Tools, kitbag, inflator, reflector.

EXTRA. Sturmey-Archer 3-speed Gear (as illustrated).

SUPER SPORTS MODEL No. 28 is available in orange enamel, fitted with celluloid mudguards,
detachable chainwheel and other improved features.

left on an open cream and orange ground, a black open-frame machine with a red-lined rear
mudguard, white mudguards and a saddlebag. Across the top of the page runs a printed landscape
band in tan and orange, two riders on a road with a church and a farm behind them.

The specification is one dense paragraph and its interest is in what it treats as ordinary and what
it treats as extra. Stainless steel spokes, Endrick rims, Raleigh quick-release hubs, Raleigh
caliper brakes front and rear and a Spra-bonderised rust-proofed frame are all standard, and the
saddle is a Brooks B.15 for the gents machine and a B.72L or a Terry spring seat for the ladies.
The Sturmey-Archer three-speed, illustrated on the machine in the photograph, is an extra.

The last line names the model above it in the range rather than illustrating it: the Super Sports
Model No. 28 in orange enamel with celluloid mudguards and a detachable chainwheel.

The page prints no year. It is not from the Raleigh catalog of 1958, whose page 9 is the Trent
Sports 21; the Spra-bonderised finish, the stainless spokes and the styling place it in the 1950s.]
