RALEIGH QUALITY, DESIGN AND FINISH
DUNLOP TYRES. Are fitted to all Raleigh bicycles, most models also having the Dunlop ‘Airseal’ inner tube which reduces inflating operations to an absolute minimum and ‘Easypump’ valve permitting pressure checking.
BROOKS’ SADDLES. Best Butt Leather or Spring Seat saddles, with chromium plated undercarriage, offer a choice to provide maximum comfort and reliability.
RENOLD ‘ELITE’ CHAIN. The fitting of this well-known chain ensures troublefree transmission.
RALEIGH ENAMELLING AND NICKEL CHROMIUM PLATING. Finest possible enamel is applied scientifically over a Spra-Bonderized rustproof surface, resulting in a high degree of gloss and durability. Maximum deposits of nickel and chromium on scrupulously clean surfaces, provide chromium plating which is unsurpassed, completing the renowned super-brilliant Raleigh Finish.
RALEIGH HOODED LEVERS. Fitted to all models with our calliper brakes, comfortable to operate due to absence of external bolt heads or nuts.
RALEIGH BELL CRANK. Careful design, combined with extreme neatness, provide a smooth and very efficient rear centre pull roller lever brake.
RALEIGH TUBULAR FORK CROWN. Raleigh bicycles have always been easily recognizable, quite apart from other outstanding features, by their handsome and extremely strong tubular fork crown and thimbles.
RALEIGH SEAMLESS BOTTOM BRACKET. A circular flat disc of finest quality steel is scientifically manipulated by powerful presses, involving over 30 operations with frequent normalizing treatment to remove stresses set up, into an immensely strong bottom bracket without a join of any description.
RALEIGH PEAK HEAD. An example of the care and thought in providing that little extra item which makes the Raleigh Finish so distinguished.
RALEIGH PATENT ANTI-VIBRATION PLATES. These enable full advantage to be taken of the powerful front brake, at the same time ensuring smooth and ultra-safe braking.

Features that make the Raleigh Superbe so perfectly named
1 RALEIGH COMBINED REAR LAMP AND REFLECTOR. This neat combination, securely housed in a specially moulded rubber body, is fitted as standard to all Raleigh ‘Superbe’ models.
2 RALEIGH PATENT THIEF-PROOF LOCK. Neat and efficient, standardized on many models. It provides three locking positions in all of which the cycle is unrideable. The key should always be withdrawn before riding.
3 LIGHT ALLOY PROP-STAND. Instantly and easily operated with the foot, it will appeal to riders who frequently have to park their bicycle. Folds unobtrusively away when not in use.
4 F.G. HUB. This Sturmey-Archer 4-speed gear, combined with frictionless and troublefree ‘Dynohub’ hub lighting, fitted exclusively to ‘Superbes’, gives easy cycling day and night.
LUCAS BELL. This well-known quality bell is standard equipment on all ‘Superbe’ bicycles.
A REVELATION IN CYCLE LIGHTING, UNIQUE : SIMPLE : TROUBLEFREE
Standard equipment on all ‘Superbes’, incorporating the following striking advantages:
With the headlamp switch in the ‘on’ position, light is given at all times, whether the machine is stationary or in motion.
Whilst stationary and at very slow speeds, three standard dry battery LEAK-PROOF cells provide the light. As speed increases the Filter Switch automatically cuts out the batteries and changes over to the ‘Dynohub’. This procedure is reversed as speed decreases.
The Filter Switch is foolproof, having no moving parts and requiring no service.
Keeps usage of battery current to a minimum at slow speed and this ensures long battery life.
When batteries are exhausted they should be removed. The set will operate as a direct lighting unit until new ones are fitted.

All Raleigh bicycles and tricycles are guaranteed against defects of manufacture for a period of 12 months from the date of sale provided they remain during that period the property of the first retail purchaser. This Guarantee does not apply to damage caused by wear and tear, misuse or neglect. The employment of a motor-attachment constitutes misuse for the purpose of this Guarantee. All conditions or warranties implied by statute or otherwise as to the quality or fitness for the purpose of cycling are hereby excluded. The liability which we accept under this Guarantee is limited to the free supply of a new part in exchange for the part which may have proved defective, or at our discretion to the repair of the original part, excluding in either case the cost of fitting, and does not extend to any resulting loss or injury.
If a defective part shall be found in any of our machines within the period specified above it must be sent to us carriage paid with a request that it be replaced free of charge under the Guarantee. The number of the bicycle (stamped on the Seat Lug of the Frame) or tricycle (stamped underneath the Bottom Bracket), the name of the Dealer from whom it was purchased and the date of purchase must also be stated.
This Guarantee extends only to those bicycles or tricycles which are purchased either direct from us or from one of our duly appointed Dealers and does not apply to bicycles or tricycles which have been used for hiring out purposes or from which our trade mark or manufacturing numbers have been removed.
This Guarantee applies only to those parts of the bicycle or tricycle manufactured by us and in the case of defects in components such as tyres, rims and saddles, the purchaser should refer to the respective manufacturers of these components.
TERMS OF BUSINESS
Delivery. The Company will not be held responsible for any delay in delivery of any article whether such delay is caused by circumstances over which the Company has control or otherwise.

VARIABLE GEARS
The famous and extensive Sturmey-Archer range includes three- and four-speed hubs of wide and medium ratios: SW (3-speed wide) FW (4-speed wide) FM (4-speed medium). Lighting and braking are also combined with gears in the hubs described in adjacent paragraphs.
BRAKES
Internal expanding Sturmey-Archer front (BF) and rear (BR) brakes are world famous. This principle is combined with a 3-speed wide ratio gear in the AB. The TCW is a coaster brake combined with a 3-speed gear for those who prefer this method of braking.
