5 & 7, RUE ORDENER
PARIS-18e BOT. 83-14
[A tall, narrow ruled advertisement in black and white, closed by heavy bars at head and foot. At the head “POSTE RADIO” stands in widely spaced roman capitals, followed by an italic “pour” and four starred lines in a sans-serif face. The lower half is a pen-and-ink line drawing with a speech balloon in hand lettering, “avec PYGMY SPRINT La route est moins longue !”, pointing to a cyclist drawn from the front and slightly above, bending over the handlebar with a small box on it, short marks beside the box suggesting sound. At the left a small radio set is drawn in black line and solid shading: a rectangular case with a shield-shaped speaker grille in the middle, four round knobs and a small nameplate, with the caption “POSTE VÉLO ET SCOOTER” at its right. Four lines of italic hand lettering below list its features, and slanted strokes carry the line “Documentation sur simple demande” toward a solid black panel in which the firm’s name and address are reversed in white capitals. A small oval monogram with three letters sits at the upper right of the drawing, and a star ends the panel. No artist signature is visible.]
[This advertisement shares page 220 of L’Officiel du cycle with advertisements for Stella, H. Arnaud, La Vipère and Chaluret, each held here as its own record, and others for Marcel Leroux, Anonyme Pratica, Emmanuel Bert et G. de Keravenant and Leon Sauniere.]
