AU SALON DU CYCLE : Stand 35

[A ruled advertisement set in type alone, with no drawing or photograph, inside a plain black rule. A broad band drawn as two parallel black rules runs corner to corner across the panel from the lower left to the upper right, and the marque “Le Chemineau” is set inside it in large sloping script, climbing the slope, with a pair of heavy inverted commas at each end. The band divides the panel in two. In the upper left corner, ranged left, stand two lines of letter-spaced light sans-serif capitals, a small ornament of four diamonds, and two further lines naming the goods, the second in a heavier condensed face. In the lower right corner, ranged center, are the town and the pair of dates in letter-spaced bold sans-serif capitals and figures, the same four-diamond ornament, and the maker’s name with his trade in a lighter face. Across the foot, below the band, one line of heavy sans-serif capitals and roman gives the Salon and the stand number. The word “DERAILLEUR” is set without its accent. No signature or agency mark appears, and no type from the reverse of the leaf shows through.]

[This advertisement shares page 140 of L’Officiel du cycle with advertisements for Helyett and Gouverneur, each held here as its own record, and one for Celliosprint enamel.]
