[A young woman in a red bodice, a short skirt of white gauze, gray stockings and a red cap, her long brown hair streaming behind, tumbles through the air across a black racing-style bicycle whose wheels spin loose at odd angles, with one hand on the handlebars and the other reaching up into a spray of palm leaves. The ground shades from sea green at the top to cream at the foot. SOCIÉTÉ LA FRANÇAISE is lettered in tall white script outlined in blue down the left and across the top, and the address in orange at the foot.

The library files it under the subject Marianne, and the red cap and the palm are the usual signs. Société la Française made the Diamant bicycles; the archive’s other La Française Diamant sheets are of 1909 and later.]
