W. F. Holdsworth
For many years has produced first class Lightweight frames and has been responsible for introducing many of the finest Continental racing and touring fitments to the British rider.
An active Club cyclist in every sense of the word, “Sandy” Holdsworth’s constant interest ensures up to date design and the highest standards in his workshops.
Quality of material used in the manufacture of Handbuilt Lightweight frames being of premier importance, only the finest steel lugs and forgings, in conjunction with Reynolds ” 531 ” tubing, are employed. Production is in the hands of a small group of skilled Craftsmen, many of whom have ‘grown up’ with the firm, taking a personal pride in their contribution to the famous Holdsworth reputation.
Your Guarantee of satisfaction, service and attention to detail is expressed in the foregoing. Reflected throughout every stage of production from the ordering of material to the assembly of the finished cycle is our determination to maintain the Holdsworth supremacy.

HURRICANE
This ever popular model is again offered at a figure below the price of any HOLDSWORTH frame since the war.
Accepted by cyclists everywhere as an exceptional example of the specialist lightweight builders ability to provide a really competitive clubmans mount.
FRAME SIZES
Standard sizes 21″ – 23½” have a 22½” top tube and 24″ – 25″ have a 23″ top tube. 22″ or smaller frames can be built to our, 21½” [?] top tube 72° Head and 73° Seat, ‘short reach’ design if required.
TUBING All Holdsworth frames and cycles are built from Reynolds “531” High Carbon Steel tubes and carry the famous Reynolds transfer guaranteeing this.
PRICES In a fluctuating market we must reserve the right to make adjustments if and when necessary during the season.
[Right-hand page.]
FRAME SET
Of parallel design having 72° head and seat angles which coupled with a low bracket height give great stability. Reynolds “531” tubing, continental lugs, forged crown and Agrati rear ends each contribute much to overall rigidity. Other refinements include brazed-on eyes and tunnel for bare brake and gear cables.
Frame Finish
Stoved Enamel, Lustre or Flamboyant to individual choice. Lugs picked out OR head tube enamelled in contrasting colour. A metal head plate, transfer seat ‘Crest’, model name and down tube signature as fitted to all Holdsworth models.

CHROME PLATING
Production difficulties compel us to limit this to ends, crown or head lugs of Cyclone and Zephyr models. We regret the durability of the best plating at present available cannot be fully guaranteed.
COSTING
Owing to the competitive price at which Hurricane models are offered we regret that the standard specification must be adhered to. Should shortages force us to substitute other components these will be of comparable value.

For the
Connoisseur
CYCLONE
The design of the Cyclone is based on 73° head and 71° seat angles, for time trial and touring use, although 72° parallel may be specified if required for massed start.
We find the average cyclist is best suited with a 22″-23″ frame and a 22½” top tube; for the taller rider the 24″ frame has a 23″ top tube. Smaller frames can be built to our short reach design (see sizes panel below).
Specially selected “531” butted tubes are phosphor-bronze brazed into hand filed lugs cut to an exclusive design in our workshops. The top-eyes are wrapped over the seat lug giving rigidity to the back. Plain Agrati rear ends are used or Campagnolo may be specified at 10/- extra. Slender tipped oval blades, forged fork crown and good quality head bearings give a light and lively “feel”.
EXTRA FOR CAMPAGNOLO FITTINGS
Lever Boss …. Single 5/6. Double 11/-
Front and rear ends (self centring) …. 10/-

MONSOON
A frame for enthusiastic “Road Men”; an outstanding model in its class
Double butted “531” tubing is brazed into a lugwork of a balanced scroll pattern, designed and cut by our own craftsmen, making a pleasant change from the stereotyped pressings found on most frames today. Careful selection based on long experience of angles, forks, bracket height and wheelbase measurements ensure for the Monsoon rider a stable yet lively design.
Parallel head and seat angles of 72° have been combined with a lo[cut off] height and fairly long back which allows even a wide ratio ten speed t[cut off] efficiently. Forged Agrati ends give a good gripping surface for qui[cut off] hubs and a stop under the down tube prevents any make of gear lever [cut off] “creeping”. Eyelets and a tunnel for bare brake and gear cables are [cut off] but pump-pegs and lamp bracket are not fitted unless requested.
FINISH : To individual choice of Flams., Lustres o[cut off] with panel or bands to seat tube. The [cut off] may be in contrasting colour or all lugs p[cut off] as preferred by the customer.

ZEPHYR
Many fast 25 milers try pursuiting and general track work, roller racing and hill climbs. This machine is built for just such uses—sturdy and lively on the track yet not too steep to corner safely on a wet road.
The exceptionally strong back in this design, with fluted wrap-over top-eyes and heavy plate path ends ensures that all the “explosive” efforts inherent to track work are transmitted without loss and 73° parallel angles give positive steering. The distinctive cast crown is drilled so that a shallow front brake may be fitted and the specially drawn round fork blades ‘though stiff will absorb most road shocks when used for 25’s.
