[A full-height ruled advertisement in black and white built in three bands. A dark band at the head holds reversed cream lettering: a flowing hand-lettered line “La meilleure performance” above two lines of bold sans-serif type. The light middle band, edged at both sides by heavy vertical bars, carries a finely hatched engraving of a pair of pedals seen from the side with the axle between them: two rubber-style block treads with scalloped edges and the name TANK cut through each tread in large letters, a cylindrical axle with a clamp strap in the middle, a domed dust cap with a knurled ring at the left and a threaded end with a nut at the right. Lines of roman capitals above and below the picture and a short rule and a bold line fill out the band. A dark band at the foot repeats the trade in reversed capitals and sets the three product names TANK, MERVEILLE and STYX, separated by dots, in heavy capitals inside a light box, with the maker’s name and town below in reversed type. No signature or monogram is visible.]
[This advertisement shares its unnumbered page of L’Officiel du cycle with advertisements for Henri Gauthier and MDL, each held here as its own record, and others for Merat seats for vélomoteurs and motorcycles and the Alma vélomoteur.]
