“TRUE-POISE” BICYCLES

THE CHAMPIONS’ CHOICE FOR ROAD AND PATH

[The front cover of the Rudge 1939 Super-Sports leaflet: a photograph of Karel Kaers, wearing the number 20, riding his Rudge on a banked track, with the Rudge-Whitworth Limited hand roundel at the lower left and the title “1939 Super-Sports ‘True-Poise’ Bicycles” below. A later gray rubber stamp over the photograph at the left reads “HANS OHRT / LIGHTWEIGHT BICYCLES / 9544 Santa Monica Blvd. / Beverly Hills, California / CRestview 6-4711 / North Hollywood Branch / 5153 Laurel Canyon Blvd. / SUnset 2-6822” (the last figures double struck). RUDGE offer for 1939

an entirely new range of

Super-Sports Models

DESIGNED on the scientific Rudge “True-Poise” principles, these handsome new models have many refinements of specification, and will appeal strongly to the most discriminating Club and Racing men.

They are the outcome of experience as long as the history of the bicycle, for the House of Rudge has always been associated with Records on road and track. This rich experience and the results of untiring research work have effected all the improvements which make the Rudge to-day . . . BRITAIN’S BEST BICYCLE.

All designs combine low weight with immense strength—a fact proved by Karel KAERS when breaking the World’s Mile Record at Wembley. This famous Champion is 6 ft. 3 ins. tall, and weighs over 15 stones. Imagine therefore, the terrific strain at high speed on a banked track—yet Rudge proved more than equal to the strain !

Finish is of the highest possible excellence, and it will be noted that choice of tasteful colours is available.

[A text page headed “RUDGE offer for 1939” that introduces “an entirely new range of Super-Sports Models”, citing Karel Kaers’ World’s Mile Record at Wembley, with the slogan “RUDGE–THE CHAMPION’S CHOICE–Why Not Yours ?” between ruled lines at the foot. Two lines printed in orange ink above the foot (“And now — KAREL KAERS and / 1939 Wembley 6 Days”) run off the right edge across the fold and continue on the facing page; only part of the next letter, a “C”, shows at the edge.]
