[Lettered round the tires:] PNEUMATIQUE LA FORCE
[Signed at the lower left:] PAL
[Printed up the left-hand edge:] Imp. PAUL DUPONT, 4, Rue du Bouloi, PARIS.

[A slim rider in a matador’s costume, a short jacket embroidered in silver on blue, a red sash, blue knee breeches, white stockings and black shoes, with a black round cap, looks up while holding a fencing sword in the raised right hand. A white paper tag reading 1895 is spiked on the point of the sword. The bicycle is a black diamond-frame safety with white pneumatic tires, drawn with the wheels blurred to show speed, against a plain yellow ground, with NEW-HOWE in big red capitals across the top and MACHINE Co, Ltd, GLASGOW beside the rider at the right.

New Howe was a Glasgow maker, and the sheet was ordered in Paris by its director for France, Réginald Smith.]
