[A full-page advertisement in black and white. A broad pale swath, edged in heavy black, sweeps up from a point near the foot of the page and opens toward the upper right like a beam of light, while a band of black sawtooth rays fills the upper left corner and runs down the right edge. Inside the beam a line drawing in brisk pen strokes shows a track cyclist crouched low over the drops of a racing bicycle, and below him a helmeted motorcyclist bent flat over the tank of a racing motorcycle, both with speed lines behind the wheels. A small monogram reading “GR” is signed in the lower right corner of the drawing, beside the motorcycle’s rear wheel. “LAQUES CELLULOSIQUES ET ÉMAUX AU FOUR” stands at the left in bold sans-serif capitals, and the claim about protection against rust is set at the right in a spaced sans-serif with a swash italic initial. At the narrow end of the beam the name “LORY” stands in large open capitals with a deep black shadow, over a black rounded bar carrying “SOCIÉTÉ FRANÇAISE DE PEINTURES ET VERNIS” reversed out in white and a small globe circled by the motto “POUR TOUT-SUR TOUT-PARTOUT”. The head office address, rue Joubert in Paris, sits at the lower right under a star, and the factories at Villeparisis, Marseille and Le Havre run in spaced bold capitals across the foot above a heavy rule. The agency credit “H. P. PROPAGANDE.” is printed small and vertical in the left margin.]

[This advertisement shares its unnumbered page of L’Officiel du cycle with advertisements for Mulin, Hirondelle and FAC, each held here as its own record.]
