[A full page boxed in a single rule: the title in large capitals over a lowercase second line and an italic subtitle, then the statistical table set in two blocks of four columns (département with dotted leaders, then 1956, 1955 and 1954, each year headed by a short dash), the left block running Ain to Loiret and the right block Lot to Yonne, with the totals under a rule at the foot of the right block and the two numbered notes under a full-width rule; the Corse row gives a 1956 figure only, its 1955 and 1954 cells blank; no drawings or photographs.]

[The figures, from the sale of the bicycle tax disc, show the French bicycle stock falling each year, from 10.560.720 in 1954 to 9.888.435 in 1955 and 8.780.680 in 1956 (about 11 percent down on 1955 and 17 percent on 1954); the largest départements in 1956 are Nord (481.858), Seine (372.692), Pas-de-Calais (318.660), Seine-et-Oise (315.489) and Loire-Inférieure (222.587), the smallest Corse (5.327) and Alpes (Basses-) (10.171); the notes rank the nine largest départements, give 1951 as the record year, 21.000 ahead of 1949 (the figure of 11.893.380 bicycles is set in parentheses after 1949 and may belong to either year) and warn that mopeds, exempt from the disc, are not counted.]
