Les moyeux MAXI et MAXI-CAR

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. Founded in 1916, the Établissements E. Dépalle, of Saint-Étienne (printed « Saint-Etienne »), have specialized for more than twenty years in making drum-brake hubs (« moyeux à frein-tambour ») for bicycles, cyclomoteurs, vélomoteurs and motorcycles. The Maxi drum brakes won the main trials of the technical competitions before 1939. The vogue of the cyclomoteur has allowed these Établissements to create several hub models adapting to the various combinations of the constructors. The house, remarkably directed by MM. Bessière, father and sons (« père et fils »), has just launched on the market a motorcycle model that is one of the outstanding novelties of 1955: monobloc drum-brake hubs (« moyeux-frein-tambour monobloc »), which assure the user total safety. These parts, perfectly developed, are remarkable for quality as well as operation, and the most modern machines can gain by being fitted with Maxi monobloc drum-brake hubs.]

[A column notice with one illustration at the left. The heading is set right-aligned in bold roman with the two marks in capitals. The body is italic with small-capital surnames, and the first sentence’s product phrase and the monobloc hub phrase are in bold roman. At the left a tall panel with a solid black ground holds a halftone reproduction of a photograph in stark light-on-dark contrast, with no caption: two drum-brake hubs mounted on their axles, the upper hub shown with a brake arm and lever and an axle end beside a small flanged sprocket carrier, the lower hub shown with a brake arm and lever and a large toothed sprocket with a ring of holes fitted beside it. The text wraps around the panel on the right and below. A solid round ornament closes the notice. No signature is visible.]
