This is a magazine article, so its running text is summarized here rather than reproduced; the headline, byline, specifications and scores are transcribed as printed.

Read the headings, specifications and summary (6 pages)

From L’Officiel du cycle, du motocycle et du camping, 2 October 1954, the paper’s special number before the 1954 Paris Salon du Cycle et du Motocycle, pages 19, 21, 22, 25, 27 and 29: Gilbert Victor’s survey of the components, accessories and tools shown at the Salon, chapter one, firm by firm, from plastics, imported brakes, chains and hubs to cranks, tools and goggles, with their drawings and photographs. The title, headings, captions and lists are transcribed as printed; the text is summarized in Ebykr’s words, and the page images carry it in full.

Les matières plastiques BAUDET

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The Établissements Baudet have worked this year to complete their ranges and to improve the presentation and finish of the “Vynex” specialties. Faithful to plastics, of which they were among the first users for the cycle, they continue to bring users the new techniques and formulas made possible by the rapid evolution of these “revolutionary” materials. The Vynex line shows plastic handlebar grips in opaque and translucent bright colors, the “famous” pneumatic “Z” grips, bare and covered cable housings in every dimension and color, and the “Sanglier” cables, whose manufacture is described as particularly careful. The firm has also studied complete transmissions for the main makes of motorcycles, cyclos and scooters, and standard models that fit most machines now on the market. The Vynex range further includes the whole line of lighting wires for cycles, cyclos, motorcycles and scooters, non-adhesive plastic handlebar tapes and adhesive tapes, plastic handlebar end plugs, transparent plastic fuel hoses and insulating tubes for electrical conductors in all diameters.]

Les pignons pour cyclomoteurs et roues de pédaliers
BEAUSSUZET

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The Établissements Beaussuset of Saint-Etienne (spelled Beaussuset in the text) have long held a “just and legitimate” reputation. The works was founded in 1911 by M. Beaussuset Père and is now run by his son, described as a very pleasant industrialist. The firm specializes in chainwheels (roues de pédaliers) of every model and also makes sprockets for cyclomoteurs for all chains, a carefully studied model. Its numerous customers include most of the great French makes, and more than forty years of work and effort have won it one of the first places on the market.]

Les câblages BLINDEX

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The Établissements A. Fostier have just put on the market a wiring harness for the Vespa with many advantages. Its interest is that the harness shown is less bulky than the original while its resistance qualities remain very high, so the assembly time needed is considerably reduced; the quality of the bundles also makes their life practically unlimited. The text adds that the firm shows plastic-covered cable work at the Salon this year.]

La roue libre « Hiry’s »
des Établissements BOURRIN Frères.

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The Hiry’s triple and quadruple freewheel with annular (ring) bearing is stated to be the only one existing in the world at present. The author calls it a somewhat revolutionary design that calls for the explanation to customers given below. It screws onto all hubs of current manufacture like an ordinary freewheel. For a small repair or a simple cleaning inside the Hiry’s freewheel, it comes apart instantly without unscrewing the hub barrel.]

L’ÉQUIPEMENT

Pour cela procéder de la façon suivante :

1° A l’aide d’une clef à molette dévisser l’écrou portant la marque Hiry’s (le sens de dévissage est celui de la rotation des aiguilles d’une montre) ;

1° Oter les pignons dentés comme il est dit ci-dessus dans le cas d’une réparation ;

2° Prendre la noix porte-cliquets entre les mors d’un étau et la dévisser comme une noix de roue libre ordinaire.

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The author warns that the nut bearing the Hiry’s mark must never, in any case, be used to unscrew the freewheel directly from the hub. The freewheel is the specialty of the Maison Bourrin Frères of Saint-Etienne, a firm founded in 1902 that has always kept the favor of a large and faithful clientele, and the Hiry’s freewheel with annular bearing is called a creation of high technical quality.]

Les pistons BRÉTILLE

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The Établissements Brétille, wishing to give the motorcycling world a piston that meets in every respect the mechanical demands of touring and racing, studied in depth the properties of high-silicon alloys. They have also stepped up their foundry work on studies of chill molds (coquilles) allowing the best results. The outcome is the “type” piston. Thanks to the quality of the firm’s tooling and the care given to checking the parts made, the piston offers every guarantee; the checking is among the strictest and is done both in research and at the different stages and at the end of manufacture. The quality of the alloy, added to the care given to production, makes this piston a model of its kind.]

[A full page of text only in two columns, headed at the upper right by a ruled ornamental box with a wavy border that holds the title “L’ÉQUIPEMENT” in large roman capitals with the section number 2 printed beneath its lower border. The text is set mostly in italic roman with bold headings. In the left column the firm headings “Les matières plastiques BAUDET”, “Les pignons pour cyclomoteurs et roues de pédaliers BEAUSSUZET”, “Les câblages BLINDEX” and “La roue libre « Hiry’s » des Établissements BOURRIN Frères.” are set in bold, right-aligned, each separated from the last by a black round dot. The right column continues the freewheel instructions, then the bold right-aligned heading “Les pistons BRÉTILLE”, whose text wraps around two square halftone photographs stacked at the lower right, each showing a cluttered workshop view of machinery and parts that is too coarse to read in detail. No signature or credit is visible. The printed page number 19 stands at the lower right, and faint type from the reverse of the leaf shows through at the foot of the left column.]

Les importations CANETTI

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. At the Canetti stand the visitor will see, in a new presentation, the whole range of the firm’s import specialties. Among the makes whose reputation grows from day to day the text names Ambrosio rims and handlebars, Universal brakes, Alessandro tubular tires (boyaux), Weco pedals, Vélo chains, Favorit hubs and Osa bulbs, “etc.” Some novelties are also on show, among them the O. H. headlamp-speedometer (phare compteur) for cyclomoteurs, shown in several designs, which the author expects will certainly hold the attention of constructors and wholesalers.]

Les accessoires CHAPUIS FRÈRES

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. Before the war the distribution of all parts and accessories for the bicycle was carried out at best by the S.A. Chapuis Frères, whose catalog was certainly one of the most complete on the market and was much sought after by bicycle dealers throughout the country. The author has learned that the company has reorganized its distribution service for everything concerning the bicycle and has reissued a very complete catalog with all the information useful to dealers. Obeying the laws of progress in motorization, it has just moved part of its activity to that branch, whose extension at present takes enormous proportions, and has done so by issuing a catalog which, although provisional, is already very complete. The text adds that the house itself repairs motorcycle frames and forks and rebores the cylinders of all makes of cyclomoteurs, motorcycles and scooters, so that garage owners can simplify their work and save much time by applying directly to it, where they are sure to find all they may need in motorcycle and scooter parts and accessories as well as bicycle parts and accessories. The author recalls that it is the S.A. Chapuis Frères that makes and distributes in France and in the Union Française the “famous” Mosquito engine (under Italian license).]

Les lunettes du CONSORTIUM GÉNÉRAL
D’OPTIQUE ET D’INDUSTRIES

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The Consortium général d’Optique et d’Industries put the first protective goggles on sale as early as 1875. The age of the firm gives it great experience and also lets it keep abreast of the latest technical advances. Its new “Tuboto” gives the user ideal protection against cold, rain, snow, mist and all the foreign bodies that strike the face at high speed and, by removing visibility, can be extremely dangerous. The author adds that in winter many motorcyclists and scooter riders suffer from sinusitis because of the cold, and that wearing the Tuboto will spare them this trouble since its cushion of warm air surrounds the face. Among the make’s products the text names the wide-field goggles Noveltor, Junior, Mascoto, Otomask, Scootymask “and many others that it would be too long to list.”]

Les productions CHAZAL-ROUCHOUSE

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. “To modern times, modern tooling and equipment” is the motto of the Saint-Etienne works Chazal-Rouchouse, which has always been marked by products of rare originality. To answer the demands of an ever more numerous clientele, the house was obliged to undertake the mass production of the whole range of silencers (silencieux) up to 250 cm3. Three years ago it created the Snob for 50 cm3; its new model, the Fusée, for larger engine sizes, is an achievement that required very long study and development. Despite actively pushed production, the firm can sum up its whole commercial policy in one sentence, “Bien faire dans les délais les plus courts.” It also makes various standard fairings (carénages) for the main engines as well as special fairings used by important firms, and some constructors have it make models exclusively for them. It can also supply all tubing from 22 to 40 (mm is not printed), bent to the customer’s wish.]

[Ebykr summary, after the drawing; the article’s text is not reproduced. The house naturally continues to make mudguards and chaincases (carters), articles remarkable for their elegance and their strength. All Chazal-Rouchouse products are shown at the Salon du Cycle, hall Renan, stand 338.]

Les spécialités de la COMPAGNIE DES POMPES
ET DISTRIBUTEURS

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The Compagnie des Pompes et Distributeurs shows at the Grand-Palais a new apparatus released only a few months ago whose success is already assured. Distributing engine oil and fuel for 2-stroke engines was a delicate problem that was hard to solve. To answer the requests made to it, the firm built a set consisting of a sheet-steel cabinet with a door that takes a commercial barrel of 55/60 liters, on which is fixed a single-liter distribution pump (pompe monolitre) with a one-liter hallmarked (poinçonnée) bottle. The cabinet, mounted on three casters, is very easy to move, so that it can be taken out in the morning to the forecourt and put back in the pump attendant’s store in the evening. A cheaper solution has a pump mounted directly on a barrel fixed on a hand truck (diable), also very easy to transport. Besides these new products the company shows, as in previous years, engine-oil and black-oil pumps, oil tanks, tank trolleys, hallmarked oil bottles and metering dispensers, known and appreciated by pump attendants.]

[A full page of text only in two columns, set mostly in italic roman with bold right-aligned firm headings, each section divided from the next by a black round dot. In the right column a wide ruled box holds a line engraving, drawn in fine parallel hatching, of one long flat shield that tapers from a squared left end to a deep rounded bend at the right, the outline shown with a double edge; it carries no caption, label or signature and sits beneath the Chazal-Rouchouse text. At the lower right a ruled ornamental box with a wavy border repeats the running title “L’ÉQUIPEMENT” in large roman capitals with the section number 3 above its top border. The printed page number 21 stands beneath it at the lower right. No signature or agency mark is visible.]

Le frein-tambour DÉCÉLER

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. Cyclomoteur enthusiasts often complain of inadequate braking; with the Décéler system they can now ride without worry, since it gives them a powerful brake guaranteeing absolute safety. The patented Décéler system is simple in conception and changes the usual construction of drum brakes very little. It allows equal distribution of pressure on the shoe linings so that both contribute effectively to braking the drum. Its principle is to give the shoe-opening cam the possibility of moving around the pivot axis of the shoes. When the brake is applied, the flat part of the cam spreads the shoes normally until one shoe touches the drum with its lining. As the cam keeps turning, it takes the reaction of its bearing on the blocked shoe, and its axis therefore shifts until the lining of the other shoe also touches the drum. At that moment the axis is no longer urged to move and the force transmitted by the cam acts equally on the two shoes. Braking is thus perfect, to the great satisfaction of the user, who can use his full speed without fear of accident.]

2 [illisible]

[Ebykr summary, after the drawing; the article’s text is not reproduced. The text recalls that the Établissements Bernardon of Saint-Etienne, makers of the Décéler brake hubs, are renowned for their PAX pedals, which originated with them at the beginning of the century. Bernardon also supplies the Sprinter hubs and in particular the Sprinter 70 with large forged-duralumin flanges (grandes ailettes en duralumin forgé).]

Les pneus DUNLOP

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. In this branch, which has seen large-scale growth for some years, Dunlop works to maintain and extend its already enviable positions. For the bicycle, besides the already known “ondulé”, “renforcé”, “fort” and “pointe de diamant” profiles, a new profile has just been created in the size 650 1/2 ballon. Likewise sportsmen will appreciate the exceptional strength of the new tubular tire (boyau) with a molded and sculptured tread (chape moulée et sculptée).]

[Ebykr summary, below the picture; the article’s text is not reproduced. Like the “D. 5.” car tire, the Dunlop “D. 5.” casings for mopeds (vélomoteurs) and scooters owe to the homogeneity of the whole the qualities of robustness, suppleness and safety asked of a modern tire. The author lists what they have:]

— Une carcasse : conçue pour résister à l’utilisation particulière d’un engin à deux roues, et qui constitue un des meilleurs compromis actuels pour répondre aux exigences de charge, de confort et de sécurité de conduite ;
— Des sculptures : différentes, suivant les conditions d’utilisation, mais répondant parfaitement à celles-ci, quel que soit l’effort demandé à la machine ;
— Une bande de roulement : de forme étudiée, qui donne la sécurité et l’adhérence indispensables, même lorsque l’engin est incliné.

En résumé, un pneu moderne, pour machine moderne.

Les spécialités des Établissements DRIOT

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The author recalls that the Établissements Driot, founded in Saint-Etienne thirty years ago, created the “sandow” luggage strap (sandow fixe-bagages) and have always been in the forefront of progress in that specialty. The “Cobra-Etoile” and “Cobra-Starlett” marks are described as particularly happy designs that are the indispensable complement of a choice equipment. Other Driot products are all automobile equipment wires (plastic) in all sections: 9, 12, 16, 20, 25, “etc.” The author says of the specialties of this important house, run by M. Armand Dupré, that they are perfect in every respect, that their quality is not open to discussion and that this is the reason for their success.]

Les manivelles trois branches A. DUPRAT

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The old Saint-Etienne house A. Duprat has long imposed itself by the quality of its manufacture. Its “Professionnels” cranks have won a fully justified reputation, with precision, lightness and elegance as their main characteristics. The author is pleased to speak of M. A. Duprat’s latest creation.]

(Suite page 25.)

22

[A full page of text in two columns, set mostly in italic roman with bold right-aligned firm headings, each section divided from the next by a black round dot. At the head of the left column a ruled ornamental box with a wavy border holds the running title “L’ÉQUIPEMENT” in large roman capitals with the section number 4 printed below its lower border. Below the Décéler text a ruled box holds a line engraving in fine hatching of a drum brake in two views: at the top a round cover plate seen obliquely with a short lever arm bolted across it and a small hand-lettered figure beside the lever, and below it the open drum shown from the inside with the shoes, return springs, a central cam plate and a hub, a long clevis arm reaching to the lower left and a forked lever at the upper right. The engraving is signed in the lower right corner “Rebour” in a drawn monogram signature. At the top of the right column a large halftone cartoon shows a crowded Paris street scene: under an awning sign lettered “LE BOUL’ MICH’ SCOOTERISE” riders on scooters and mopeds weave among café tables and pedestrians, with two men seen from behind in the right foreground. It is signed in the lower right “DELARUE-NOUVELLIÈRE”. No firm address or agency mark appears. The printed page number 22 stands at the lower left, and part of the neighboring leaf shows at the right edge.]

— Page 4 —
[Ebykr summary, continued from page 22; the article’s text is not reproduced. The article on the A. Duprat cranks resumes at the head of the left column: the latest creation is the three-arm crank of the “Universel” type, a new model expected to enjoy great success. The Universel is a crank with three added (rapportées) arms, of a very remarkable appearance and for everyday use. Its main advantage is its cost price, which is lower than that of the classic-form three-arm crank, so that the constructor who equips his machines with it makes a noticeable saving while getting the same advantages and the same performance. It also allows the fitting of two sprockets thanks to special bolting. The author concludes that M. A. Duprat, as a proven technician, has foreseen everything.]

Le moyeu-frein DUO, type R.M.M.

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The rapid evolution of the cyclomoteur has raised many problems, above all braking, since most of the new machines reach surprising speeds and had to be fitted with brakes ensuring the user’s absolute safety. After a thorough study, M. Étienne Perrin, who presides over the destinies of the important Lardy works at Boën-sur-Lignon (Loire), has definitively perfected a brake model of extreme power whose efficiency is incontestable, a truly remarkable piece.]

G. GEDO

[Ebykr summary, below the drawing; the article’s text is not reproduced. The caption text names the Duo brake hub, type R.M.M., which contains three floating shoes (trois mâchoires flottantes). The action of the cam spreads the first two segments and makes the opposite segment slide, guided by a pin sliding in a slot (fenêtre). This drum brake has given brilliant proofs of itself and has been adopted by great French makes, which the author calls a proof of confidence that has its price.]

Les outillages FERREBŒUF FRÈRES

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. Men have always striven to create tooling that permits the rapid manufacture of this or that device, to increase production while reducing cost price. In repair work for motorcycles, scooters and cycles a whole special range of tools has just been created to meet the growing demand of agents who want to repair “vite et mieux” the machine entrusted to them by road users. The Établissements Ferrebœuf Frères, at Levallois-Perret, have created a complete tool department running from the steering-wheel puller (démonte-volant) to the motorcycle lift (lève-moto), so that customers will find in these premises quality tools of their choice together with the accessories and parts needed for repair. The text notes a special discount of 5 % that the Établissements Ferrebœuf allow their visitors.]

Les vêtements de protection
de la Société R.-A. GONCET

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. Motorcycle users know that protective clothing against rain and wind or even against grease stains is indispensable. The Établissements Orage, specialists in protective clothing, have created under the name “Cross” a new model of motorcycle overall. Its efficiency is due to the zip fasteners covered by flaps and trimmings and also to the “Imper-Sec” quality (rubberized cloth, caoutchouc toilé) in which the Société Goncet makes this model. In both form and quality, the overall gives satisfaction to the most demanding motorcyclists and scooter riders, whatever the weather.]

Les lunettes et pare-visage
GRAND-CHAVIN-LAMY

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The speeds reached today by motorcycles and scooters oblige the rider to wear goggles or a face shield (pare-visage). Six models of “grand sport” goggles in molded rubber with ventilation holes are shown. Interchangeable lenses can also be supplied in the following tints: colorless, brunal and verdal against the sun, yellow and orange against fog. The firm can also deliver a graded tint fused in the mass, or with a small sun visor and a screen against headlamps. For the Slalom 45 and Moto-Simplex models the rubber can be gray, black, blue or red at the buyer’s choice. The same models exist in a smaller size for ladies and young people.]

Citons parmi les modèles présentés :
— Le masque moto extra-fort, en rhodoïd épais et monté avec de grosses vis à molettes ;
— Pour l’hiver deux pare-visage anti-buée, avec dispositif de protection empêchant la buée de ternir l’écran placé devant

[A full page of text in two columns, set in italic roman with bold right-aligned firm headings, each section divided from the next by a black round dot. In the left column a square ruled box holds a line engraving in black hatching of a three-shoe drum brake hub seen from the open side, with a three-spoked center plate, coiled springs, rounded pins and a curved clevis arm sweeping down to the lower left; it is signed in the lower right corner “G.GEDO”. In the right column a tall ruled box holds a plain line drawing of a smiling young man in a zippered overall with chest and thigh pockets and a belt, one hand resting on the headlamp of a motorcycle sketched in outline behind him; the drawing carries no signature or credit and the text wraps around it at the left. Lower in the same column a halftone photograph in a thin frame shows a pair of goggles with a molded rubber frame and a broad strap, with a faint lettering on the strap, set above the closing list. The last line of text breaks off at the foot of the right column without a continuation note, and a ruled ornamental box with a wavy border repeats the running title “L’ÉQUIPEMENT” in large roman capitals with the section number 5 above its top border. The printed page number 25 stands beneath it at the lower right with a small figure 2 below.]

— Page 5 —
[Ebykr summary, continued from page 25; the article’s text is not reproduced. The Grand-Chavin-Lamy list ends: the winter anti-fog face shields have a protective device keeping mist from clouding the screen in front of the eyes. These articles are particularly interesting for motorcyclists who must ride in all weathers. They come in two qualities, the Spécial Moto (S.M.) folding model, a very strong article, and the lighter Anti-Buée (A.B.) model.]

Les articles d’importation HÉROLD

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The Établissements Arthur Hérold show a whole range of selected import articles, among which the author distinguishes the following, listed as printed:]

— Les fameux compteurs V.D.O. pour cyclomoteurs ;
— Les pédales Wagner ;
— Les éclairages Berko, de renommée mondiale ;
— Les chaînes Brillant pour cycles et motos ;
— Les selles et sièges Brueninghaus à amortisseur hydraulique ;
— Tout un assortiment de timbres Globus, attaches-remorques, cadenas, poignées Habie, compteurs kilométriques Lœwe, ainsi que les amortisseurs Sirne et jantes dural Girardengo.

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. In all, a great choice of very varied products with one common character, quality.]

Les fabrications HUYGHE

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The Vita-Vitalux products have developed several novelties lately, some of which particularly attracted the author’s attention. First a bicycle headlamp bearing the number 60 and also 60 in diameter, with a visor and a ball-joint (rotule) mounting that allows the lamp to be aimed in every direction. The author also points out the dynamos models A and S, which are not strictly speaking novelties but are well known, and whose qualities of power keep them up to date; the three-year guarantee attached to these dynamos shows the quality of the devices. The firm also produces a whole series of headlamps for cyclomoteurs whose renown, for them too, is no longer to be made. The text closes by citing the chains for cycles and cyclomoteurs that important constructors fit in series.]

Les boyaux HUTCHINSON

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. Despite motorization, the followers of the “petite reine” are very numerous. Many use the bicycle as transport to work or for outings, but a large part make it a sporting instrument, riding very light bicycles to make the performances more accessible. That lightness is obtained not only by cutting the weight of the metal parts to the minimum but also that of the tires themselves, so they use tubular tires (boyaux). Such tires, while tending as far as possible toward fineness and lightness, must also resist pressure well and not give way to the least flint met on the road.]

L’ÉQUIPEMENT
6

[Ebykr summary, continued in the right column; the article’s text is not reproduced. The record of the Hutchinson tubular tire in sporting events clearly shows that it has the qualities of fineness, lightness and also strength that champions and all sportsmen ask of it. Winner of Paris-Roubaix 54, of Milan-San Remo, of the World Championship and the French Championship of Cyclo-Cross, of Paris-Côte d’Azur and of numerous other events, it truly equips the champions. It gives more “tirage” (road feel and speed) thanks to the very fineness of the tire, yet safety thanks to the rubber used.]

Les moyeux-freins à tambour IDÉAL

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The new Cl. Jacquemard works is said to be one of the most modern of the Saint-Etienne region; its installation, absolutely remarkable, is the admiration of visitors, and its organization is a model of its kind. The range of drum brake hubs is very varied and answers all the needs of constructors for all their models, from the light cyclomoteur to the big competition motorcycle. Industrial concentration on one given product, aimed at improving technical processes, allows a production that is the largest in Europe and whose reputation is no longer to be made. The production of the Établissements Jacquemard is delivered under the well-known mark Idéal.]

Les productions « J.B. » et « MYLORD »

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The Établissements Jean Baron of Fraisses (Loire) have long held a just and legitimate reputation. Thanks to modern tooling, an organization beyond compare and proven working methods, M. Jean Baron, who counts unanimous sympathies in industrial circles, has won the favor of an ever larger clientele, the reward of ceaseless effort and particularly careful work. In headsets (jeux de direction) and bottom-bracket sets (jeux de pédalier) of all models, grand luxe included, as in pedal axles and cups, the J.B. and Mylord marks are a guarantee.]

Les fournitures JEANNERET

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The firm’s activity is devoted exclusively to the sale and repair of VéloSolex machines and to the manufacture of accessories adaptable to the VéloSolex.]

(Suite page 29.)

27

[A full page of text in two columns, set in italic roman with bold right-aligned firm headings, each section divided from the next by a black round dot. At the head of the right column a ruled ornamental box with a wavy border holds the running title “L’ÉQUIPEMENT” in large roman capitals with the section number 6 below its lower border. In the left column a ruled box holds a line engraving of three Vitalux lighting items: a bullet-shaped headlamp with a visor and a ball-joint bracket at the top, a flat wedge-shaped lamp body lettered “Vitalux” at the lower left, and a bottle-shaped dynamo lettered “Vitalux” on its label with a clamp bracket and roller at the lower right. The text wraps around the box at the right. In the right column a halftone photograph in a thin frame shows a large drum brake hub with a toothed sprocket around its drum, a perforated drum shell, an axle with a nut at each end, a brake arm and a cross-handled lever at the right. No signature, credit or agency mark is visible on either picture. The printed page number 27 stands at the lower right.]

— Page 6 —
[Ebykr summary, continued from page 27; the article’s text is not reproduced. The Jeanneret article resumes with the accessories listed as printed:]

— Le pare-chocs oscillant, breveté S.G.D.G., garantissant le moteur et qui est maintenant universellement connu ;
— La poignée Jeanneret, modèle déposé, permettant de porter le VéloSolex sans fatigue ;
— Le fixe-bavette pour garde-boue avant ;

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The author sums up that all these accessories are made to render the VéloSolex more elegant, more practical and better protected. The company has just added the presentation of the Italian anti-theft locks (antivols) “Super-géant U.B.”, adaptable to the VéloSolex, Mobylettes and all cyclomoteurs.]

L’avertisseur JURINE

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The Établissements Jurine of Saint-Etienne have created a powerful horn (avertisseur) for the vélomoteur. It works solely from the magnetic flywheel with no current rectifier. It has a patented feature, being very easily adjustable by a wing nut (écrou à oreille) at the back of the horn.]

V VIS DE RÉGLAGE SONORITÉ

[Ebykr summary, below the drawing; the article’s text is not reproduced. This easy adjustment of the sound is very important, the author says, because most existing horns fed by a magnetic flywheel have no sound adjustment or only a very difficult one, whereas in this model the adjustment is made on twenty notches at the back of the device, and moving the knurled nut (écrou moleté) along these notches gives a very precise setting. As an indication, the knurled nut being 6 mm at a pitch of 100, each shift of one notch represents 100 = 5/100 of a mm, so that the sound device is moved away from or toward the magnetic core by 5/100, giving very great precision of sound setting. The device measures 90 mm in diameter and fits very easily on all vélomoteurs by its two fixing bolts. It is also designed to replace certain existing devices on scooters.]

Les avertisseurs KLAXON

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. The big Klaxon firm, whose success with automobile horns is known, has not neglected the problem from the motorcycle angle. The horn this company presents under the name K.M.G.4 is a very powerful one. It works directly on the magnetic flywheel, which guarantees its efficiency and its life. Sold in France and even abroad, its price is no obstacle to its spread because of the superiority of its quality.]

Les guidons et porte-bagages KIPRIM

[Ebykr summary; the article’s text is not reproduced. Thanks to modern tooling and qualified staff, the Saint-Etienne make Kiprim, whose director is M. Marcel Heurtier, has very quickly won a justified reputation; its various products, carefully studied, are marked by their strength and their elegance. The Kiprim handlebars for cycles are of rational shape and, for all the “fanatics of the bicycle” (« fanatiques de la bicyclette »), are a choice equipment. The models for cyclomoteurs, vélomoteurs and motorcycles are a guarantee of safety and are adopted by the great makes. Kiprim also makes a new luggage carrier that doubles as a spare-wheel carrier for Vespa and Lambretta scooters, whose success is considerable.]
