[Signed at the lower left in red:] E. Clouet
[Lettered at the lower right in tan, beside a large PAL:] d’après PAL
[Printed up the left-hand edge:] Imp. Jules . SIMON . 57. Boul^d de Strasbourg. PARIS.

[A fair-haired woman in a winged, spiked helmet, a banded steel corselet, a skirt of mail and laced leather leggings stands with the grip of a tall sword in her raised right hand and a round dark shield behind her left arm. Her left hand rests on the handlebars of a black racing bicycle with dropped bars and thin tires, and her long red hair streams out behind her. The ground is yellow above and green below, with LIBERATOR across the top in huge orange capitals.

The sheet carries two names. E. Clouet signed it in red at the lower left, and D’APRÈS PAL is lettered at the lower right, which reads as Clouet’s drawing after a design by Pal, the way the archive’s Peugeot sheet after Vulliemin is lettered. The library catalogs it under Pal.]
