LES QUATRE MEILLEURS COUREURS DE VITESSE DU MONDE : un Hollandais, Van Vliet ; un Belge, Scherens ; un Allemand, Richter ; un Français, Gérardin, se sont, conformément aux pronostics, qualifiés samedi à Milan pour les demi-finales du Championnat du monde de vitesse professionnels. Voici les grands sprinters assis sur la pelouse du Vélodrome Municipal, lors du Grand Prix de Paris 1939. De g. à dr., Jeff Scherens, champion du monde de 1932 à 1937 inclus ; Albert Richter, vainqueur du Grand Prix de Paris en 1934 ; Louis Gérardin, vainqueur du Grand Prix de Paris 1939 ; enfin, après Jézo, qui a pris place parmi ses collègues du carré d’as, Arie Van Vliet, champion du monde 1938. Mais notre compatriote Gérardin fut éliminé en demi-finale par Van Vliet.
